Turtles on Cumberland
Commerce High School AP Environmental Science students Edson Martinez,
Hannah Denton, Kate Massey, Ricki Orozco and Devyn Crane hold up turtle
shells collected by a Cumberland Island National Seashore wildlife biologist
over 16 years. The predation rate on sea turtle nests went from around 70
percent to around one percent in just a few years due to his efforts. The shells
were loggerhead, kemp ridley and green turtles.

$100 to $2,000 for classroom
projects that cannot be fund
ed through general education
funds.

by midnight Friday, June 3.
Applications received by the
early bird deadline of Friday,

will be judged by an outside
panel of education experts,
and grants will be awarded
this fall.
