Banks County 4-H
Archery Team advances
to national competition
The Banks County
4-H Archery Team will
compete at the 2019 4-H
Shooting Sports Nation
al Championships June
23-28, 2019. The com
petition will be held in
Grand Island, Nebraska.
Team members include
Tanner Foster. Garrett
Stephens, Jake Sand
ers, and Hunter Taylor.
The team was coached
by: John Adams, Ben
Brown, Jamey Foster,
Troy Grizzle, Jason
Sanders, Kevin Stephens
and Alex Wiley.
To earn a spot at 4-H
nationals, the team had
to first win state at the
Georgia 4-H Outdoor
Competition in April.
They competed with
over 600 archers from
across the state, ulti
mately rising to the top
of county rankings.
In addition to winning
first in the state, all four
team members earned
Master 4-H Status and
will be recognized with
all other state 4-H win
ners at Georgia 4-H
State Congress in July
in Atlanta.

a national competition
is something most 4-H
members only dream
of accomplishing. We
also want to thank the
archery coaches and
parents who have ded
icated themselves to
making the 4-H archery
program here in Banks
County the best in the
state.”

Banks County 4-H members attend
annual Georgia officers training

cer 4-H training.
Each year. Georgia 4-H
holds elections for Junior
(seventh and eighth grade)
and Senior (ninth to 12th
Grade) District Boards.
Students develop a cam
paign strategy, run for office
during their District Project
Achievement event and if
elected, have the opportuni
ty to represent their district
at conferences, meetings
and events.
“These outstanding young
leaders gain valuable experi
ence with decision making,
critical thinking, consensus
building and working as a
team,” stated Lauren Mor
ris. Banks County Exten
sion Coordinator.
Banks County 4-H has
two representatives on the
Northeast District Junior
Board of Directors: Caitlin
Bernier and Emily Mainor.
They will be representing
Northeast Georgia 4-H for
the 2019-2020 school year.

dining etiquette, leadership
skills, and public speaking.

ship skills they gain as dis
trict officers they will bring
back home to Banks Coun
ty”
