his profession and has since resided al

Dr. Fogle was a member of Ht. Luke

The Concert To-Xight.
Our readers will remember the sacred
concert to be given by the Baptist Sun
day School to-night in their own behalf.
It will, we are satisfied, be a splendid af
fair, and all lovers of a high order of so.
cred music will be amply repaid for the
trouble of attending. Besides sweet,
gushing melodios from the children,
members of the church ohoir and other
good singers will take part, thus insuring
an excellent treat for all capable of appre
ciating the beautiful in vocal and instru
mental music. No admission fee will be
charged, but citizens should go prepared
to contribute a small sum to assist the
school in its efforts to provide itself with
suitable books, maps, charts, Ac., with
which to adorn its room.
Since the above was written we have
been requested by Rev. Mr. Kendrick to
give notice that should this afternoon
prove rainy the concert will be postponed
until Friday evening.
Katie Putnam Troupe Last Night.
The weather was cold as oil cloth, and
rain was falling, yet the house was a pay-
iug one. Old Curiosity Shop was the play,
with charming Katie Putnam as the
bright, vivacious provoking Marchioness
and tho loving, tender Nell, and Browno
as Dick Swiveler, who sported the ver
nacular, “passefr the rosy” and wished for
the old aunt “to turn up her toes.” The
principal characters were well sustained.
Browno is a born Dick Swiveler, and Katie
tho sweetest of Nells, and the most natural
of laughter-giving Marchionesses. She
“banjoes” well, sings well, *and dances
gracefully. The character of Quilp was
admirably sustained. The entire play was
richly enjoyed—so much so as to forgive
the cutting down of tho piece to some ex
tent.
