A Good Advertising Medium, This paper is now ono of the best ad vertising mediums in this section. The combind lists of the Enquihkh and Sun give a large circulation, and advertisers of course will reach just double the num ber of readers aud customers roached un der the old order of things, and that too, at a great saving in oust. Therefore it is greatly to tho interest of merchants and business men to avail themselves of the use of our columns. Parties who, under tho former arraugomout, would not ad vertise because they felt they could not patronize both papers can now have tho benoftt of both lists at ono price. We hold that advertising will benefit auy and sll descriptions of business, from tho mammoth manufacturing establishment down to tlie humblest avocation by which men attempt to make u living. People read newspapers not only for the general nows they contuiu, but also to ascertain where they can bny nnd sell to the beat advantage. Iu short, advertising is the legitimate business way of doing busi ness, and if a man has a cow or pig or horse to sell, or wishes to buy or rent land or houses, or to loud money, or form n partnership of any imaginable business character, the nowspaper is the plaoe to make hiH desires, wishes and intentions, known. Wo think it is a well established fact that those who advertise most per sistently aud judiciously are the men who prove most successful in any of the busi ness avenues of lifo. ness throughout every State iu the Union, nnd whioh haa fallen with such crushing weight upon the commercial and indus trial interests of the Boutb, the city of Coltimbus by this time would undoubted ly hsve hsd under headway two or three more extensive manufacturing establish ments. But the severe oraah has of course stayed operations, and Almost put a complete check to subscriptions which had began to pour in from all sectioua of Georgia and adjoining States. Now that the business skies have began to brighten, we bopo that the great projects set on foot some time ago will be revived, and that ere the first six months of the pres ent year have rolled over, the work of bnilding will have actually commenced. If there is anything safo or stable in .the way of investment it munt be capital put into manufactories. The history of the world and of the- times shows that cotton aud woolen manufactories are pro fitable, and for the proof of the assertion one hss but to look to the rich monopo lies which exist iu all manufacturing cen tres. If the business will pay in Man- cheater, England, or Low oil, Massachu setts, thousands of miles from the cotton belt, why will it not pay bore iu the vory heart of tho region where tho staple is produced ? We have unsurpassed water power, a genial and healthful climate, and labor which may be employed as cheaply as anywhere on the globe, all things con sidered. Then let ns not for a moment lose sight of these great projects, and lot our capi talists prepare for invistments which, in tho long run, must prove not only entirely safe, but highly remunerative.
