ENGLAND. Majority of tbe Prince Imperial. London, March lii.—There is an euor- mous influx of French visitors. Tickets are distributed for the celebration at Chiselhurst, and already number 5,000. Among the numberless presents, tbe Queen sent from Windsor a flag, an order of the Garter, and also a brass plate with an inscription to be placed over the Em- poror's sarcophagus. The programme for Monday is as fol lows: Mass at 11 o'clock; reception; ad dress to bo read by Duke of Padona, to which the Prince Imperial will reply. Report* from Paris express fears of s de monstration and change in the electoral law, and distress among the working classes, have a tendency in favor of the cause of the Imperial Prinoe. A rupture is reported between Eugenie and Plon Plon (Prinoe Napoleon). Ovation, Address, and Reply. London, March 16.—There was a great crowd of Fronoh people at Chiselhurst to day to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the birth of tho Priuce Louis Napoleon. Over 6,000 cards of admission were issuod, and those to French people only. In the morning, mass and thanksgiving services were held, after which the Duke of Padona addressed the Prince in the name of the Fronoh, the persons present congratulat ing him upon having attained his major ity. Tho Prinoe, in his remarks in reply, re turned thunks to his countrymen for their faithful romembrauce of the late Empe ror, and in conclusion said : “Despite tho confidence inspired by the loyalty of MacMuhon, an irresistible cur- rent of public opinion has pronounced in favor of tbe plebiscite. I am ready to accept its verdict.” Great enthusiasm was manifested at Camden House, the residence of the Em press, and the Prince was gaily deoorated. The Ashniiteo Expedition. London, March 16.—Tho Highlanders reluming from Ashautoe have arrived at St. Vincent. Tho London Timex' dispatches" an nounce that the Prime Minister of Ashan- toe, tho King and his Captain-General have been brought prisoners to Capo Coast Castle. ItenmiiiN of Dr. Llviniatone. London, March 16.—Sir Garnet Wools- ley will go to Malta or Odton, to take the remains of Dr. Livingstone, and es cort thorn to England, t'ubun Revolution—Rebel* Ahead. Havana, March 16.—A letter says tho bund of volunteers scut to Suevitaa has mot the Insurgents, and been worsted. Upon their arrival at Nuevitas, they found tho railroad leading to Peurto Principe cut, and attempted to march to the latter placo, when they were attacked by tho Cubuns, losing 25 mon killed and 70 woundod. The remainder returned to Nuevitas. The Cubans in tho city of Now York have information of the uprisiug of tho slaves on tho sugnr estates in the Dis trict of Muriel, about 45 miles from Ha vana, and also in the neighborhood of Bahia Honda. Tho uprisiug began on the estate of J. Ar Guirro, fomented by poor planters, who are under the impres sion that if tho slaves should rise in their vicinity, the authorities would feel bound to arm the whites to maintain peace at home, and theroby prevent thorn from be ing sent to fight in tho eastern portion of tho island. The Captain Goneral has or dered troops in tho vicinity of the trouble. It is reported that the stowaways, which steamer City of New York oarried back to Havana, when tbe steamer was twelve miles at soa, were condemned to be shot. SPAIN. Madrid, March 16.—Marshal Serrano with an army of 34,000 men and 00 pieces of artillery is now face to faco with the Carlist force of 55,000, while Gen Loma, with a column of 8,000 strong is moving on tho enemy in tho rear. Bayonnk, March 10.—A body of the Cat-lists, under Gen. Saballs, were sur- ptured in tho proviuce of Corona. A col a inn of Republican troops marching to tho relief of Olot. ■IRAKI L. SHIR NEWS. CONGRESSIONAL. House. Washington, March 1G.—This being Monday, a large nnmber of bills were introduced and referred. The Committee on War Claims met to day, when Judge Lawronce, Chairman, submitted a report relative to the class of elaitns which should not be allowed. The Committee have not yet considered their report, which is very important, as estab lishing a principle for Congress in tho settlement of war claims. Among the bills iutroduced was one to regulate commerce between tho United States and foreign countries ; fixing the rate of postage on weekly newspapers ; and restricting tho jurisdiction of tho Court of Claims. The bill relating to the Louisville A Portland Canal was postponed to Monday next. The bill appropriating 1' irty thousand dollars to he expended tho current fiscal year in improving the mouth of the Mississippi river, was passed. , Mount*. There was no session of the Senate to day. Witvlilngtou Note*. Judge Dent is sinking. John E. McMarau has been reinstated to his place in tho Dead Lottcr Office. Tho President has a cold, and received no visitors to-day. Tho United States steamer Shaumat. Captain Howes, left for Key West. Withiu the Inst three months about 600 mechnnicH and laborers have been dis charged from tho Washington Navy Yard— 128 of them to-day. Some of those re tained are working ou one-third, one- fourtli and two-thirds’ time. Tho Howard Court of Iuquiry to-day examined Gen. Meigs of tho court, Act ing Commissary General Shims, and Ad ju tant General Townsend, with regard t«> tho laws and regulations concerning the disbursement of public moneys, and par ticularly with reference to such laws and regulations since the lime Gen. Howard became responsible for funds belonging to the Government. Tho Philadelphia Centennial. Philadelphia, March 11 —The Execu tive Committee of the Centennial Com mission have been in secret session hero all day, adjourning at midnight. Tho 36 plans for the Exhibition buildings sub mitted were discussed, after tho passage of resolutions stating that “the acts of Congress creating tho Unitod States Cen tennial Commission, and establishing tho international character of the Exhibition; tho proclamation of the President of tho Unitod States commending tho Exhibition to foreign nations; the subscriptions made and instalments received ou tho stock of tho Centennial Board of Finance, together with tho beginning nud conduct of work thus far, forbid tho abandonment of the international feature of the Cen- tonnial celebration of 1876.” Savannah, March 16.—Arrived—Bark William Virgus, Painquis, from Balti more ; schooner Horace Moody, Bravnrd, from Philadelphia; E. The Liquor Traffic.—Tho Now York World gives statistic** to show that from January 1, 1865, to December 31, 1874, the entire sum paid at wholesale for liquors in tho United States amounted to $181,283,636—enough, it remarks, at usual retail rates to buy out the richest State in tho Union, to pay tho natioual debt, or to support or carry ou another five-year war.
