The Churches Sunday.
t'on^regations were good in the morn
ing After dinner rain of a drizzling char
acter fell. This would have had no effect
it a party or a supper was to be attended,
lull as the service was only a church mat
ter many members remained away. We
expert some of Hie very devout absentees
--uot away from ill health, but because
they did uot feel like it will complaiu
about this paragraph, as they ha\o about
others of similar purport. That is poor
Christianity that cannot stand the test of
a drizzling afternoon, so as to attend di-

Pork Souse and Sausage - Deported Pois
oning of fourteen Per eons—Ail Well.
A good deal of excitement was created
np town Knnday morning, by tho state
ment that some twelve or fourteen per
sons had been poisoned in the Coweta
and Kaglo and l'henix Manufactory board
ing houses. All exhibited aymptomM of
poison. Both Dm. Flewollen and Colzey,
who were called in by various patients,
reported that thoy were suffering from
this cause. Several were effected very
severely. Proper remedies wero ap
plied arnl u!l are now fairly wollj The
families of Messrs. Tap Wall, Hudson,
Trendaway, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Komens,
Mr. Hpirlinga and others.
Inquiry developed the fact that all had
eaten vory heartily of souse and saosage
which had been bought on Saturday from
Kumsoy A Brother. They procured it
from Mr. Stephen Diamond, and he iu
turn had made it of hogs bought chiolly
of Mr. O'Brien. Tho doctors think the
composition of tlio souse, Ac., was tainted
meat. In such warm weather as wo are
now having pork is quickly spoiled. Mr.
Diamond is represented oh oue of the
most caroful buyers of meat, and oqually
no in its preparation.
Thoro wore several canon of this kind
last year. Parties should avoid such
things in warm weather.
Yesterday Kumsoy A Brother issued a
warrant against Mr. Diamond, who was
carried before Justice Chappell, where be
waivod an examination and gave a bond
of fifty dollars to appear before tho Coun
ty Court, which moots next week. Mr.
O'Brien, from whom ho bought tho hogs,

To Our Cotton Warehousemen.
All know if thoro is nno thing wo dosiro
to have right, it is the Columbus daily
cotton uiai'Uot. Each warehouse is fur
nished with printed slips, and ovory after*
noon, receipts, shipments and prices arc
sent for. If there is anything wrong, it
must be with wnrehousomen. Now, last
Friday, ovory warehouse returned tho
slip, with pricos “unchanged," but one,
which made pricos lower than the pre
vious ones. We did not aoo them until
dark too late to inako inquiries. Hhip-
pars nay tho market was an oiglith to a
quarter higher than on the preceding day.
It was not our fault that such u report
wiih made. Will not our friends, tho
warehousemen, do thiH . Never return tlio

down. If the soller louves tho warehouse
before our me.Hiioiigur arrives, will he uot
