Tbo production of tho mill for the year
iding March 8th, 1874, wan as follows;
1,082,744} yards of 4-4 fiheeting, and 7-8
shirting; 148,002 pounds rope and yarns*
This product exceeds that of the past
year by 25 por cent., duo to the introduc
tion of a lnrgor water wheel and increased
machinery. The profits of tho year
amount to $22,126 08, an increase over
1878 of $10,000 after the payment of tho
intorost account of $5,874 24.
Machinery account shows an outlay
during the year of $0,000, and real estate
$580, covering improvements on mill and
place in Girard.
Liabilities show a personal indebtedness
of $50,000 ; assets $50,000 ; personal ac

goods, etc., would considerably exceed
this amount, if collected. The property
is, llwroforo, practically uninonrabored,

Heavy Jtain.
Tho skies yesterday, seemed to turn
loose all the moisture thoro was with them.
Water fell in torrents during tho morn
ing. Bo hard was the rain, and so muddy
tho streols, that tho Columbus Guards lmd
to postpone their drill to Thursday after
noon. A slow’ dripping rain was fulling
Inst uflornoon. Considerable lightning
ami thunder accompanied tho storm in
the morning.
Funeral of Mr, John Johnton,
It took plaoe yesterday morning. A
heavy torrent of rain foil on tho proces
sion from tho residonoo to tho church.
Mr. Nall dolivored an eloquout sermon.
Tho corpso remained in tho church seve

The Mutter With Anybody.
When a fellow is Jarno and cannot at

some inauourncius should havo crept into
tho official account of thoir shooting. Wo

shrubs that scout llio passing gale, ticks
Unit stick, and red bugs that render nights

seek amuHoiiiont in tho wildwood anil

Columbus Cotton Receipts.
To laat night this amounted to 57,804
bales, only 304 less thuu the entire re
ceipts of lust Mcosoii. Last year after this
date t\>lnml>us warehoused 3,787 bales,
including 1,070 received direct at the Ea-
gto A Ptiouix mills. If wo get 2, "11 bales
tho rest of this season, tho satno as tho
laat, excluding tho direct factoiy ocoouut,
tho total receipts of Columbus will amount
to (50,015 bales. Wo believe wo will get
more than last year from this time out;
yot tho vast doorcase of tho receipts at
Montgomery will not make the receipts
of the two cities equal with those of lust
year. Tho largo increase at Macon will
uot make the three towns equal by a larg)
amount.

The problem to be solved by the South
