Hell Storm On Kuoooll County.
A very heavy storm on Friday evaning
lost, of wind, rain and bail, passed over
the neighborhood of Col. Brannon and
others, four or flva miles north of Seals,
doing great damage to crops, &o. Tress
and fsoooa were blown down, and the
land* badly washed.
Cutting Affray at Uotckochubboo.
Hr. John Diok, living near Hatche-
ehnbbee, on tha Hobile and Girard Bail-
road, was severely stabbed with a knife
by Hr. Hsmp Psoe. The wound was in
tha region of the heart, and had the knife
penetrated a little deeper would havs
proved fatal. Hr. Diok, at last aeoounts,

A little eon of Hr. L. S. Thompson,
while ploying, in company with some
other little boys, on the tops of some
freight oars, at Seale, on the Hobile and
Girard Bailroad, on Sunday last, fell be
tween two oars, striking his head against
the bumper, was rendered insensible and
speechless. He was taken home, and is
now doing well. This should be a warn
ing to parents to k M p their ohildren
away from depots and trains.

The Bepublioan members of the Georgia
delegation favor Hr. Johnson. He is a
eon of Judge James Johnson, of our Su
perb* Court, and independent of politics,
is very popular in this Sty. He is veiy
courteous, and will make a good offieor.

On Friday night last, itsg Persons and
Jaok Gamble, two colored troops, broke
into th* store of Hessars Horn A Julius,at
Hurtville, on the Hobile and Girard Rail
road, and took therefrom som* two or
three hundred dollar* worth of goods.
Among other things taken, was a
mutilated half dollar, whioh oae of thorn
afterwards presented'to Hr. fCSroiker, a
merohant of Hurtville, in payment for
some goods. Hr. K. recognizing the bill
as tbs one described to him by Mom A
Julius, be waa arrested and told on bis
aooomplioe, who was also arrested. They
were carried before Justice Weoker, who,
after examination, in default of bail, com
mitted them to jail. They effected their
entrance to tbs store by going down the
chimney. Beg Persons is a preacher,
aad had his Bible in his haversack when
committed to jail. About fifty dollars
worth of the goods have been recovered.

A gentleman writing from Xnon, Ala.,
renewing his subscription, has this to say
concerning crop*: “Corn and ootton late,
with poor stands up to dote. Oats good,
with occasional spots of rust to mar the
prospeot. Labor working well. Plant

future results. All am alive to the sub
ject of making something to eat. The

Doyro Mortally Cut.
Hr. Charles Yancey, near Loachapoka,
Ala. Monday, cut a negro so badly that
tt is thought he cannot liv*. Yancey dis
charged him Saturday, and directed him

Monday, and to Yanoey’s demand, “Why
he had com*,” answered that be had not

gro again repeated it mom insolently, and

him to challenge Blink for certain lan
guage. Xanoey commenced to curse Blink
and he (Klink) walked baok to bis shop,
when Yancey came np and, after some
conversation in *0 angry tone, Blink
knooked him down. Hitohell earn* from
across the street and assisted Yaneey to
rise. I didn't think he was making an
arrest, but helping him to his room ; did
not hear him ask where fair room wav.

Blink knock Y. down, and Hitohell help

Mr. Dukes has told.

if I was a policeman and would give him

and, on bis squaring himself for a fight,
I knocked him down, and as be used his,
feet I did so too. Hitohell oain* up and
said “Stop,” aud I walked off.
The committee made their deoision,
but will not make it public until they re-
port their recommendation to Oounoil for
final action.
The difficulty eoearred about two weeks
ago between Hr. Henry Blink and B. D.
Yancey, of Ohattahooohee oountry.
The Grand Jury have found true bllld
both against BUuk and Mitchell. They
were preferred by Yancey.
We can state positively that the coni?
miuee will apt recommend a removal of
Officer Mitchell, or th* visiting to him of
any harsh censure.
