On Wadueaday afternoon a colored man
was greatly abusing a mule ha waa plow,

Tba negro Bill Thomas, who waa arres
ted by our officers, on the charge of mur
dering Mr. Larkin Allen, iu Leo county,
Ala., and shooting his wife, nud was af
terwords delivered to the Alabama author
ities and jailed at Opelika, has had bis
oaes continued in the Circuit Court at
that place on his own motion. Ue still
remains ia jail. A large reward was of
fered by private parties for the arrdst of
tha murderers, and wa think onr officers
are justly entitled to and Bhouid claim it.
Term About Over,
The present term of our Court is about
dosed. Among the travera jurors excused
on Wednesday were J. T. and R. B.
Thweatt, John Wynn, W. L. Tillman and
D. F. Willcox.
Among the cases continued by the proa
eoulion, about which some talk baa been
created,were those of H. G. Klink, charg
ed with an assault on, and Voliceman
Mitchell for falsely imprisoning R. D.
Yancey. Tha indictments were found at
the instance of Mr. Y. The parties ac
cused were euxione to have Bn immediate
hearing, but Mr. Y. bad the oaaa contin
ued.
Among the orders passed waa one al
lowing 0. Calhoun, Esq., fifty dollars for
taking evidence in five cases of felony—
#10 each.
After calling a few eases, the Judge
waa attacked with a chill, and an adjourn
ment was compelled.
Court adjourned about 9 o’clock, to
mast at 8} a. th. to-day.
Tba Court will probably adjourn for the
term to-day, certainly to-morrow.
