In some quarters this is the complaint.
The grouud is too wet to bo workod, and
grass hns commenced growing rapidly.
The sessou somewhat resembles that of
18U4, when so much rain fell that tho
wheat in tho fields sprouted and oorn
grew into stalks. No such aUrmiug dun-
gor is apprehended this year, ns the rains
are not so heavy or frequent ns in 18t»4.
Corn generally is now represented as
flourishing, and cotton in fair condition.
On tho average wheat haH been or is
ubout being gathered, and the yield is
larger than siuco the war. Altogether
the prospect is very encouraging. The
complaint of too much rain is partial.

Meetlny Preliminary to Final Action.
Yesterday morning, at II oelook, the
large number of creditor* assembled in
the room of the United States Reg
ister, L. T. Downing. An boor or two
waa consumed in proving claim*. The
creditors adjourned and again met at half
past twelve in the afternoon.
It was understood that Major Moses, as
sisted by Col. Blandford, represented the
parties favoring bankruptcy, and General
Banning those desirous of the continu
ance of the assign meet and proposing to
take the estate out of bankruptcy.
Major Mosea, in the beginning, stated
his candidate* for the assigneeahip in
bankruptcy were U. H. Epping, President
of the Chattahoochee National Bank, and
Mr. R. L. Baas.
Capt. J. K. Redd proposed the present as
signees, W. L. Salisbury, President of the
Merchants’and Mechanics'Bank, and Jno.
Peabody, Esq.
Before the voting commenced it waa
agreed that forty-eight bonra be allowed
either side in which to make objections.
After some disonssion it was agreed to
vote first on the following' propositions:
“In the District Court of the United
States, for the Honthern District of Geor-
gain, in the matter of John King, bank
rupt, in bankruptcy."
“At this, the first meeting of the cred
itors of said bankrupt, it was resolved by
three-fourtha of the creditora, whose
claims bavo been proven, a* follows:
1st. That it is for the interest of the gen
eral body of the creditors of said Jno. King,
bankrupt, that the estate ahould be wonnd
up and settled, and distribution made
among the croditors by trustees under
tbo inspection an£ direction of a com
mittee of creditors.
2d. That the resolution be certified and
reported to tho court. '
lid. That William L. Salisbury and John
Poabody be nominated as trustee# to take
hold aud distribute said estate.
4th. That Henry W. Ford, of New York,
cashier of the National Bank of the Re
public; N. J. Bussey, Peter Freer and R.
H. Chilton, of Muscogee ooouty, Georgia
and Forbes Bradley, of linssell county,
Ala., be the committee of the creditora
under whoso direction tho said trustees
shall aot.
The voting then proceeded. Maj. Mo
nos objected to all of them. The polls
will be kept open until all who have ap
proved their accounts have balloted. The
sum total was not added up last after
noon, but Maj. Moses admitted several
times that those in favor of the resolu
tions amounted in uutnber and value to
threo-fourlhs of the creditors—all of
whom had aooeptod the dividend of 20
per cent.
Major Mooes then demanded to vote
forfassignees. After some verbal state
ments the following consent rule was
agrood to:
“As many persons who have voted for
trustees have left with the understanding
that if the trustee arrangement was not
oarried out, they should have the right
to voto for assignees; it is now agreed
that all the votes cast for trustees shall
also be considered as cist for Peabody
aud Hulisbury as assigueea, subject to the
same objodious as are provided for in the
consent rule beforo taken.”
Witness, June 111, 1874, L. T. Down*
ing, register.
Major Moses then proceeded to cast
his, tho votos for which he had power as
attorney. They wero not footed up. He
told the reporter they amounted to $25,-
000 to $30,000—suffloiout for his purpose.
Register Dowuing gavo notice that the
list would be kept open for additional
votes in the afternoon.
The creditors again meet at bis office
at 10 o’olook this morning.
There were none but conversational ar
guments by tho lawyers on either side, and
they wore brief aud regarding primary
motions.
We bavo confined the report atriotly to
tho muin facts.
The esse looks favorable to, at present,
much litigation, unless it is obeoked by
the courts.

his ordor os to provide a continuous ses

The Cn/*derate Monumental Convert*
Spite of the rains of the day aud threat-
suing of the night, we can safely say the
repetition of the Old Folks’* Concert last
night, for tha benefit of a Confederate
monament in Ootumbas, yielded $300
above exponas*- most probably more.
We oan only repeat the high encomiums
given tha former one. Everything was
charming. Tha statuary and other ta
bleaux ware given with better effect and
appeared more beautiful than on the for
mer oocasidh.
Bonnie Doon was richly warbled by
Miss Mollie Cook, who has one of the
tost supsrb voioes in this seotion. The
Oooquared Banner,” by Miss Mery
O'Keefe, was baantifnlly and tonohingly
rendered. Daring this song a Urge Con
federate flag formed the background of
tho scene. On one side was the bullet-
riddled battle flag of the Twelfth Georgia,
and on the other the battle flag of Polk’s
Corps.
Mr. Frank Gunby wore tha gray and
noted as color bearer, and bore the
glorious battle flag of the army
of Northern Virginia, which he
slowly furled as tha songstress breath
ed the words “furl that banner for ’tis ho
ly.” The audience insisted on a repeti
tion of the (( Two Part Tone” by Mr. El
bert Wells and Mias Julia Daniel, but the
singers simply appeared and bowed in
answer to load applause. No encores
were allowed, though called for.
The railroad scene was more laughablo
and jolly than ever. Among the passen
gers appeared Mr. Frank Gnnby with six
dogs and a full game bag. A friend
opened the latter and threw out
a dead chicken. Messrs. Willie
Thomas as the drunkard, James Cargill
as the old man, Gunby Jordan oh tho
blind man of Opelika, Willis HoUtead as
the exquisite, and several ladies creatod
much laughter. A freedmau appeared
seeking the second-class car, saying he
could “take de fust-class in Alabam, but
dis am Georgy.”
The choruses were excellent.
The orchestra music was greatly ad
mired, and formed one of the most attrac
tive features of the evening.
All oonoerned deserve the highest praise.

Dr. Scuknck's Pulmonic Sthuf, Sea Weed
Toxic, and Mandrake Puts.— 1 Theso medicine*
have undoubtedly performed more cure* of
Connamption than any other remedy known to
the American public. They are compounded of
vegetable ingredients, and contain nothing which
can be injurious to the human constitution. Other
remedies advertised as cures for Consumption
probably contain opium, which is a somewhat
dangerous drug in all casos, and if taken freely by
consumptive patients, it must do great injury; for
its tendency is to couflu# the morbid matter in
the system, which, of course, must make a cure
impossible. Scbeuok’s Pulmonic Syrup is war
ranted not to contain a particle of opium; it is
composed of powerful but harmless herbs, which
act on the lungs, liver, stomach and blood, and
thus correct all morbid secretioua, and expel all
the diseased matter from tho body. These are the
only means by which Consumption can he cured,
and as Schenck’s Pulmonic Syrup, Sea Wood
Tonic and Mandrake Pills are the ouly medicines
which operate In this way, It is obvious they are
the only genuine cure for Pulmonary Consump
tion. Eucii bottle of this invaluable medicine is
accompanied by full direoiions. Dr. Schonek is
