Mr. Local: I have heard more than one
member of the Ladies’ Memorial Associa
tion c* mif daln of the lack of Interest <n the
part of the gentlemen on the question of a
monument to our dead comrades. This is
eertfctnly an error, which I, for one, would
gladly disprove. I have read with interest
your very sensible articles In regard to a
tournament and other means of raising
the necessary funds for carrying out our
Sacred duty. 1 would add this suggestion:
Ijcfc the ladles prepare a eonipany flag to

or any other scheme can lx; carried into
effM*t without action or work. Have the
ladies taken any steps in the matter? If
not, when will they? The Fair Grounds
have been sold, and If no request is made,
the buildings will (loubtless bo removed at
an early day. When will the ladies act?
Who will answer? Now is the opportuni

suggest as a suitable time April the 9th.
The weather is pleasant then.

We commend the communication of
“Soldier” to the attention of the ladies.
At the same tunc we would assure our cor

the liveliest interest in the suggestions of
the Times, and tho dreadful weather alone
has prevented the commencement of active
work. It Is iiuiKirlant, however, as “Hol
