A petition numerously signal by citizens of Hamilton and Its vicinity, is being cir culated In our city for signatures. The petition recites t hat whereas the road now terminates at no town, its completion to , Hamilton would increase its income and I render it more saleable. It asks the Gen oral AaMinhly to ruirtqfjointljr a frmjlidttee *f seven toUrtift a 14)1 Jdnhintf to an ap- | propriatlon for the extension of the road to Hamilton, under ten commissioners to be appointed by the Assembly or named in the biU; or t hat said commlMSioiicrs lie j allows I to form a joint stock company to rxtend the rood to Hamilton, the title of the extension to vest in said eompauy, j with tin* right to use and control said road in connection with the Stab* and other owners. It is not probable that any signer of this petition can feel more interest in j the extension of the North A South Road , than we do, but we can not see the neces- ; sity of two bites at a cherry. Speaking of Columbus, whose large in vestment every reader understands, we' would urge an unselfish view of tills motj j ter, especially from persons Who have not! manifested their interest in the enterprise by investing their money. Let the expul sion go beyond the mountain; then Ham ilton will not only get. the facilities it wants, but Columbus will be benefited, and the State will have a road which will Is* more than self-sustaining consequently saleable. A party of business men of lids eity have already submitted n plan to the Governor looking t/> this end. Let ns lx*, careful not to complicate a big result for i Columbus and Harris by an undue eager- ( ness for a local convenience. Matrimonial. Yesterday evening Mr. T. J. Appleyard was married to Miss Sarali E. Kennedy, by the Rev. Mr. Corley, at St. Luke’s Methodist Church. The attendant* were Mr. J. T. Gammon and Miss Virginia Ap pleyard, of Sharon, Pennsylvania; Mr. W. C. Turner and Miss Annie Phelps, and Mr. T. J. Kennedy and Miss Minnießheinhart. After tin* ceremony a large number of their friends assembled at the residence of the bride. Mr. Appleyard belongs to the noble army of typos, and his bride is one of the loveliest maidens of Columbus. We join the wishes of his friends in long life and perfect happiness. Oni VmiHK l.mllf* Should iememlx*r the Memorial meeting at the Armory of the Columbus Guards on Tuesday next. The noble matrons of our section who have nerved so faithfully, are rapidly loing weakened in strength and numbers by age and death. They now call upon the young ladies to come j to their aid.
