Change.
Tho weather ygeterday was one delight
ful series of sudden changes. The sun
j shone no less than forty different times,
' nnd the longest Single time was four min
utes, until It cleared off In tho afternoon.
1 The wind would blow its very strongest,
i and lull to a perfect calm In a second as If
! Its breath hod given out. Wo an' unable
! to state the number of separate nnd dis
! tinct rnins that fell. Evory variety of
j falling water over seen was exhibited.
| One moment It would drizzle so finely that
you scarcely know It was falling, and the
very next you would lie pelted hy drops of
water as large as a biscuit. A heavy rain
would sometimes lie falling on a sidewalk,
while there would be a slight drizzle In
the streets, and unbroken sunshine nnd
dryness on tho other sidewalk. Thunder
clouds uniue up almost before you could
see them, and departed as quickly. The
whole day was a fluctuation of sunshine
and showers, of storm and calm, of bright
ness and gloom.
We saw n man take advantage of a sud
den gleam of sunshine to cross Broad
street. He walked fast, hut before he
could pass tho thoroughfare, tho wind
blew u perfect gale, the rain fell In storms,
tho thunder anil lightniug held high car
nivul In tho clouds; all this subsided, and
tho clear blue sky aud warm bright sun
wero out In all their beauty before the un
fortunate jiodostrian reached tho other
side of the street.
During the day the heat was ns sultry
as summer, and the covering* which the
rain jrindo necessary were terribly oppres
sive. On the whole, a most unpleasant
. day- far more disagreeable Ilian one of
I continued rain or bitter cold. It was one
of those days when a follow feels disgust
ed with himself and all mankind, and
when the only object which is attractive
to human eyes is a cozy bed In a dark
room.

On yesterday a case of habraa eor/ms
; was trirsi before Judge Brooks, Ordinary
of this county. The writ was sued out by
A. A. Dozier, Esq., as counsel for John
Jones, the ne#ro who was recently arrest
ed by Policeman Whit Smith, and who is
suspected of having l>een implicated in tho
burning of the Fair Ground buildings at
Kufaula.
Reese Crawford, Esq,, County Solicitor,
appeared to show why the prisoner show hi
not be detained any longer.
Mr. Dozier argued that no crime was
alleged against the imgro, and that no
requisition for his arrest had come from
tho Governor of Alabama.
After hearing argument Judge Brooks
remanded the prisoner to jail aud ordered j
that ho bo kept there until five days from
tho issuing of the warrant for his arrest
have transpired ; during which five days
ho is subject to a requisition from the
Governor of Alabama. If no requisition
is mode during this time, the prisoner
will be dismissed.
Policeman Smith lias received several
telegrams from the authorities of Kufaula
telling him to hold hist to Jones. Ho is
accused of arson and j wrjury, and is said
to bear a very bad character. A roquisi
tlon from the Governor is expected every
day, and it w ill surely come before the ex
piration of five days. Policeman Smith
deserves great cmlirt for his vigilance and
promptness in arresting this negro. He
has been remarkably successful in his
official duties, and has recently brought
several villains to justice. Such officers
deserve the commendation and esteem of
tiie city.

Bradfield A' Cb„ Atlanta, Ga. -Dear Sirs:
I I take pleasure in stilting that I have used
' for the last twenty years the medicine you
are putting up, known as Dr. BradfieMl'h
Female Regulator, and consider it the
combination ever gotten together for
tho disease's for which it is recommended.
I have been familiar with the preparation
both a* a practitioner of medicine and in
domestic practice, and can honestly say
that I consider it a boon to suffering fe

in our land, who may lie suffering in any

procure a bottle, and their sufferings may
I not only be relieved, but that they may be
