Deah Sih—l have soon frequent
menUuu uf the Vokutu" in various
agricultural journals, but havo not
mot with sufflelont Information to
satisfy myself on Urn subject. It is
mentioned as being specially good
for hogs, of easy culture und good
yield. I am also very desirous to
learn something of the (Jermnu mil

each, with ftdl directions as to the
culture of each? Would bo glad to l

Thg ehufa is a ground-nut some
thing similar to the gross-nut, (Do
notyonfounU this with the nut-grass,j
but much more prolific. Two hun
dred bushels can bo raised per acre
on good land. Plant from the first
to me middle of April, 2£ feet rows,
18 inches in the drill, one nut in a
place. Cultivate us you do corn. A
wet seasou is advantageous. The
German millet, we learn, has proven
a valuable acquisition to all who have
given it a thorough trial. Ou good
land from two to two and a half tons
of valuable hay can lie raised. Pre
pare the laud well by deep plowing,
sow broadcast and harrow in, one
peck to the acre. Sow ufter the late
frost in April. A top dressing of some
good superphosphate will materially
benefit the crop when it begins,to
boot. We learn a Mr. Chisolm, form
erly of Columbus, now living near
Montgomery, sold In the streets of
Montgomery last season *157 worth
of hay cut from one acre of German .
millet. The crop should be cut while ■
in the dough, as there is then less'
danger of foundering stock.
We uro always glad to give any in-1
formation to our farming friends. :
The ehufa and German millet can bo ,
lmd at the agricultural depot of Hoi
