to make this return under oath.
Each tax receiver is required by
law to collect these returns.
Directions.—Write, very plainly, in
the blank spaces, whatever may be

Grain. Number of acres planted
or sowed for the gruin crop of 1875,
viz:
Indian corn, wheat, outs, rye, liar
lev, ami rice.
Cow or held peas, planted alone, or
with corn.
Hay and forage.- Number of acres;
planted or sowed for the crop of 1875
not pasture lauds, but to be mowed
for hay.
Clover or any other cultivated grass,
Bermuda grass, to be mowed for hay.
Any other grass to be mowed for liny
(here write the nmnej Indian corn
or rice, to be cut for forage. Pea
vines to be gathered for forage.
Other crops. Number of acres in
cotton, tobacco, sugar cane, sorghum,
ground peas, sweet potatoes, Irish.
potatoes, melons. Number of acres
in your garden, or planted in garden
products.
N. B.—ln fractions of acres write
tile fraction plainly, but do not re
cord anything less than l it', of an
acre.
Orchards and Vineyards Give the
number of trees planted in orchard,
of apple, peacli, pear, and the area or
acreage, in vineyards.

Farm Animals. Whole number on
hand the Ist day of April, viz: Hogs
and mules, ail ages, jacks and jennets,
work-oxen, ail other cattle, whole

Farm laborers. The number of j

actual farm laborers working on land
which you have rented out this year,
the number of workers in the farm
who are cropping on shares with you
this year.
White or black. Of the whole num
ber of all these farm laborers; how
many are whites, how many are ne
gross.
N. 15. If tlie land-holder or pro
prietor, or any member of his own
family, work on the farm, such labor
is not to be included in the above re
turn of laborers. The full number of
workers on the farm—of wages,
hands, renters and croppers only, is
desired.

“You do solemnly swear that the I
foregoing statement is correct to tile
best of your knowledge and belief.”
The tax payer will here write his ,
name, the name of ids post office, the
number of his militia district, and
name of his county. Attest.
Explanations In stating the num
ber of acres, etc., it is not expected;
that the tax payer shall go to the ox
iiense of measuring his fields and
land ; but he is expected lo make the
return as nearly correct as practica
ble, using his best information, and
exercising ids best judgment.
It. will be best for every tax puyci
to take one ot these blanks home,
where time and facilities for eorreet
ness are favorable, and there fill it
out, and return it to the tax receiver
before his last round.
These statistics are mu collected
for taxation, but for information
solely for the benefit of the people.
It is' hoped that every person will
cheerfully make these returns, with
an honest effort to have them as cor
rect as practicable.
All farmers will know better how
to pitch a crop, what to raise, and
how to dispose of their surplus pro
ducts to the best advantage, when
they know the extent, of all fartniag
and mechanical operations, etc.
