g Recovery of the Uody of t*uv. Watt*,'soil.
Montgomery, Ala., May 2G. -The
search for tho remains of Willie
Watts, who was drowned at 8 i>. M.
on Monday last, was crowned with
success at 7 o’clock Tuesday evening.
A negro by the name of Charles
Clayton, saw the body as it arose to
the surface in the bend, opposite
Baemer’a Garden. It is thought that
the lashing of the waters by the pad
dle wheels of the steamer Lee, which
passed a short time before, brought
the body thus early to the surface.
There was nothing unnatural in the
appearance of the body, except that
the legs we.re slightly drawn up as
in the act of making the swimming
stroke. As soon as it could be done
the body was encased in temporary
wrappings, and removed from the
water and conveyed to the home of
the afflicted family. The funeral
took place at noon to-day.
