Madrid, June 9. -There are rumors j
of a Republican movement, in const'- j
qucnce of the reeent military events, :
which prove the troops unable to gain
any advantage over the Cat-lists.
London, Juno 9. A Paris corres
pondent of the Times, alluding to the
rumors of a Republican movement in
Madrid, says those who are watching
the course of affairs in Spain are sat
isfied that, the present Govern meat Is
apprehensive. They assert that the
Spanish Ambassador at Paris has re
newed his complaint relative to the
tolerance of Carlists on the frontier,
and has warmly protested against
the ostensible charity shown them,
the real object of which is to raise
money in Paris for the Carlists. It
is supposed that France will pay less
attention to these complaints than
formerly, as Germany, at present,
takes slight Interest in the cause of
King Alfonso, whose government is
too weak to pursue a course agreeable
to Germany. Competent authority,
an attache of the Spanish Embussy iu
Paris, officially reports that the Car
lists can muster 45,000 good soldiers,
besides an equal number of second
rates, and wilt continue to be victori
ous so long as the war is continued as
at present.

Philadelphia, Pa., June y. Tho
Packers of canned goods re-assem
bled at. 9 o’clock this morning, tiie
President, Mr. J. B. Brinckley, pre
siding.
Mr. Charles Rhodes of tho West
Jersey Packing Company, said the
clause in the resolution which says
every standard can shall have the
label name of packer or party for
whom it is packed, would conflict
with several of tho.packors who had
adopted certain brands, and had pre
viously put their names on cans. If
that resolution was not changed, the
firm of Warner, Rhodes & Cos., would
be obliged to retire from the Conven
tion.
Mr. Bloper offered a resolution to
the effect that this Association will
not countenance t In 1 practice of put
ting up light weight goods either in
the standard or larger size cans, and
that tho Association declare against
the use of any individual or firm’s
name on its labels that has never had
and does not now have a legal exist
ence ; that those packers who made
cans slightly Jarger than those
adopted by this Association, may put
upon them in the copy righted label
accompanying them the words “ex
tra sized standard.”

Tho Agricultural Department is a prominent

The number of men independent in polities is

Jordan’s Joyous Julep.
A Specific for Neuralgia.
TESTIMONIALS.
Pmfekuia, Va., Jan. 20tb, 1875.
John L. Jordan, Esq.—Dear Sir: Ho well pleased
am I with your Joyous Julep, that I hereby tes
tify to the superior merit of your unequaled
preparation for Neuralgia. I shall esteem my
self happy should oven one of that worst of all
classes of sufferers bo led through me to take the
Julep. My wife has for ten (10) years been a mar
tyr to the most malignant aud persistent neural
gic torture, without being able to find any relief
except from your preparation. She was relieved
by the second dose as per directions, and has not
had a return of it for two month*. To some I
may seem strangely sanguine about your medi
cine. but I have a right to be so. It is not rea
sonable to suppose this malignant malady would
have died of sheer exhaustion of capacity for
sustaining itself, and that too in a minute, and
the very minute yonr medicine was taken. If no,
it is a most remarkable, simple coincidence, and
I prefer giving tho credit in your favor of tiie
best testimony man can ever have—experience.
Vary truly yours,
JAMES T. TDHH.
CoLCMBtis, January 16, 1875.
Mr.Jordan:—l take great pleasure in recom
mending your Joyous Juiep for neuralgia,
has produced a most wonderful relief in oue o
the severest attacks of neuralgia nay daughter
ever has had. Hhe has boon treated for it by
three skillful physicians, with very little benefit,
and used all the usual remedies with little suc
cess. 1 con with much confidence hope lor a per
manent cure. It is only two days since wo begun
tho use of It, and it is apparently of permanent
benefit. Yours, with respect,
MRH. L. I. NORMAN.
