con on Tlio I lor hi lias now published iho throo estimates of acreage, condition and prospects of tho cotton crop for tint oeason of 1875-7(1, which lur.o beei issued by tho agricultural bur>at Washington, I>y the Na tional cotton exchange anti by tho New York Fiiulncilc Chronicle \ and, altfeogh differing some what in de grtc they are uniform iu reporting Snlncrease in the acreage planted, a ,:goO'l stand, clean Holds, and an im -1 proved condition over last Juno. The ► plantingseason was cold, and the £ plant had a into start. Much replant- I lag wn/ necessary, but the favorable weather which has prevailed since t the middle of May has brought up matters, and tho present position is Sjelnivd to be all that could be (Kneeled. There has been less trou ble with labor than in recent years. Increased attention lias been given to the cultivation of cereals, and al together tho prospects of the south ern planters are unite flattering. The area planted for the next crop Of cotton is sot down ly tiro Finan cial Chronicle at t>,251,471 acres, an in ■Basc over its estimate of last year of p 7,648 acres or about :;1 per cent. The National Cotton Exchange did not commit itself on this point, but was regarded by a commttto of tho Now York Cotton Exchange as point ing to an area of about 8,913,477 acres, and by another authority to 9,007,- 500 acres. The Agricultural bureau estimates an increase of l per cent over its estimated acreage of last year, : or a total of about 8,819,351 acres. We thus reach as the average of these various estimates, ait area of 9,038,125 acres planted for tho next crop ef cotton. The condition of the crop is estimated by the agricultural bureau S M 95J per cent of perfect, and by the Financial Chronicle, 98. 1 per cent of the groat crop of 1870 and 1871. If condition should be maintained <t crop of 4,381,000 bales will be grown; and if tho yield per aero of tho crop now growing shall equal the average of the past live years, 191 p muds per awe, the total yield will be 3,915,700 bales; that is, basing calculations on the average of estimates of acreage, gy Our cotton market has been suffer . ing from a semi-panic. The decline in prices for the past week lias been very rapid. The principal cause is the freedom witli which cotton has I been offered by Southern planters ami operators lor the fall months. Liverpool seems to bo confounded, staggering, as t hat market is, under large stocks and unfavorable adviivs from Manchester, hut it is not prob dblo that any serious Huaneial com plications will arise from the exist ing posture of affairs. The current crop is disappointing to what arc termed the “long-crop men;’’ and : yet; the hours have had the best of the contest with the bulls, for the reason that the deficiency in tho quantity has been made good by the improvement in quality; for the cloth-producing capacity of tho crop of !s7i ’5 is declared to be fully equal to that of ls7;l ’ 1, though tlieqhant it y is probably a quarter of a million bales less. ,Yc,w York llorhl. My wife hus for ten (10) years been a mar tyr to the most malignant and persistent neural gic torture, without being able to find any redid’ except from your preparation.
