Rurally lu Berlin. A shout along the lines nnnouno ed the arrival of the Emperor, the King of Sweden, and the royal cor tege. Having home in carriages, they all mounted their horses, already there in the charge of grooms, at the entrance, except the ladies of the royal household, whose carriages were driven at once to the most ad vantageous nlaeo on the grounds. The eava'rv looked particularly One. The White Hussars, with their helmcnts and breastplates and white uniform, mudo a most da/.zllug ap pearance, and as far as we could notice, were mounted on horses all of a light bay. Then the Blue Hus sars and Bed Hussars were equally represented. And the infantry in their splendid uniforms wont through their manoeuvres with the most beau tiful exactness. Templehof must contain about 100 acres. Take this extent of green grass, with a few outsklrting trees as a background, and about 15,000 troops, all so handsomely uniformed, and their officers, as X said before, re splendent with decorations, forming hollow squares, triangles, etc., with such rapidity that their appearance suggested the kaleidoscope. The Emperor and the King ride well, and make a line appearance on horseback. Some of us were fortuuate enough to witness all the pageantry attending the arrival of the King and Queen of Sweden the evening before, file handsome King, with his yellow sash and curious decorations, appeared to advantage beside the Emperor as they rode from the station to the palace. And the beautiful Queen of Sweden, lu the carriage of the Crown Princess, looked all brightness and amiability. She was dressed in a white silk car riage dress, and wore a white leg horn hat, trimmed with a sash of soft white silk and with ilowors, and the Crown Princess, if not in white silk, was in some very light silk, with adornments in the same color. 1 heir simple and elegant attires were brought out in fine relief by the gor geousness of tho coachman s aiul footman’s dress, and tho long pro cession of guily-equiped „ carriages containing riehly-drossod officers. Cineimwh Gazette. Watering Horses. How much water should a work horse have, if he is only watered three times per day in summer ? Is one iwiilful enough t C. C. A work horse watered regularly ttiree times a day can safely be allow ed to drink as much as he wishes, if the water bo good ami of moderate temperature. If the horse seems very thirsty and disposed to drink rapidly and in large quantity, it is well to check him after drinking a little, allowing him to slake his thirst by several separate draughts, rather than by one. A horse much heated should not be allowed to drink at will. When it can be done conveniently, the comfort of the horses will be in creased by having water in the Held and giving them drink once or twice during each half day in hot weather. Several farmers who have tried it speak highly of tho plan of stirring a little oat or corn meal lu the water designed for work horses. It. is better to do this a few hours before the wa ter is to be used. Thus in the morn ing the meal may bestirred in water given tlie horses at noon. Care should be taken to keep the vessels used from becoming sour.— Western Rural. COLUMnW Female College! FIRST SESSION BEGINS First Monday in October. College established on tin* University plan.
