Ftr ri partirii. What are the remedies for these blights upon our Industry ? The dimoultles theaoh their own lessons, and siujtfest their own reme dies: Ist. Experienoe and these facts teach that, ratslngirMon to l<\/sup plies to raise cotton, at present prices, lends directly to bankruptcy ami ruin. id. That tlwee who raise their men supplies make cotton at a projit, and See prdspei-hus. Itmeed, corres.ion deuts Benerally mport that t h<>sc who raise their own supplies cannot lyse money, if they attend to their busi ness. yd. That homo manures must, be husbanded, concentrated, nnd judic iously applied. 4th. That the farmers unisldemaud such legislation as will remove the present prohibition upon sheep-hus bandry. With only 370,492 sheep in Georgia, the annual loss by dogs, valuing the sheep at only jtl.Bo per head, is *>!£),- 437, which is a mere trifle compared to the amount lost to the Stato by the prevention of sheep rnisiug. To sum up the whole in a few words, the farmers, to be prosjieroiis, must— -Ist. Cease to buy supplies that can be ruisod on their farms. 2d. They must cense to buy fertil izers, except to supplement homo ma nures, carefully husbanded under shelter. 3d. They must reduce their plant ing down to a cash basis. 4th. They must demand such a fox ttism dogs and such protection from their ravages as will enable them to raise wool and mutton, and thus util ize, almost without labor, their at present waste or useless lauds. The price at which the growing crop of cotton w ill sol! will mil pay the cost of production to those who have purchased their snjiplies. Farmers arc therefore urged to commence at once to provide against the leaks which are sapping their limuietal life-blood, by sowing large ly of grain, and especially of the rust proof oat, early in the Fail, by care fully husbanding all the manures on tho farm, under shelter, for use in eompostiug for the next season’s crops, and by taking proper steps toward Increasing their facilities for raising stock, and especially sheep. Under the present system, six and a half millions of dollars which should go to swell the annual profits of Georgia farmers, find their wax into the pockets of others, mostly beyond the limits of our. Stale, in eon sequenoe of tho suicidal policy at present pursued, of buying what should be raised at home. Will not our farmers make their farms self sustaining--raise their supplies and pocket these profits ? Discard the old habit of boasting of of the number of acres planted, the number of plows run, or the num ber of bales of cotton made, and look well to the number of dollars of clear jirofit. From the report of the f ’om missioner of Agriculture. VVIml Wen Xecil \t I \ - r„r. It is not to sweep the house, make the bed, darn the socks and cook the meals chieliy, that a man wants a wife, if this is nil he needs, hired kelp can do it chca|>er than a wife. If this is all, when a young man calls to gee a lady, send him into the pantry to taste the bread mid cake she has made; send him to inspect needle work and bed-mrkiug; or put a broom in her hand, and send him to witness its use. Hucli tilings are Important, and the wise young men will quickly look after them ; but, what the true man wants a wife for is her com panionship; sympathy and love. The way of life has many dreary places in it, and man needs a com panion to go with him. A man is sometimes overtaken by misfortune; he meets with failure and defeat : trials and temptation beset him, nnd he needs one to stand by and sympa thize. -He lias some hard battles to light with poverty, enemies, and with sin ; and be needs a woman that, when he puts his arm around her, he feels that he has something to tight for she will help him to light ; Unit she will put her lips to Ills ear and wliis iier words of counsel, and bis baud to bis heart and impart Inspiration. All through life through storms and through sunshine, couiiiet and victo ry ; through adverse and through fav oring winds, man needs a woman’s love. The heart, yearns for it. A sister’s or a mother's love will hardly supply Hi*' iced. Vet many seek for something further tliuu success in housework. Justly enough, half of these get nothing more; the other half surprised be yond measure, have gotten more {hull they sought. Their wives sur prise them by bringing out, a noble idea in marriage and disclosing a treasury of courage, sympithy and love. A’ rchuuye.
