TIM* itHiii* l4Uj from Paris,
Stntuga Oorroapoadenc* Now York Mail.]
Wfc who have passed the season at
Saratoga are singularly fortunate
in ut least one roapeut. We have liail
the very latest Parisian toilettes dis
played morning, noon and night by a
dashing young belle who has just re
turned trom abroad, and who has
contrived to astonish oven New York
ers by her attire, which Is all made
uttoi lhe very latest L’nrisiuu fashions;
and realiy, if next year we are to lie
dressed ill this mode whet tier w ■ will
or not. what a curious looking sot of
mortals we shall he! Ladies who are
inclined to he stout will have to retire
Into obscurity, for Madam La Mode
has utterly ignored them In devising
her newest caprioes. This young
lady from Paris Is gotten up so fear
fully slim that we gaze upon her in
wonder and dismay, and really shud
der lest she should .become by de- i
grees so attenuated tis to some day
vanish altogether. Hut as she makes
a very extensive breakfast, and dines
for an hour or more, we believe site is
more substantial, after all, than she
looks. She wears her lints, which in
clude twenty or more different styles,
exactly upon the back of her head,
uot placed back from the forehead,
as is the mode with most ladies, hut
placed in a perpendicular position in
the rear of her elaborate coiffure,
and wo have been puszling ourselves
a whole morning to see how she does
it. Tight fitting skirts, without a
gather or plait in them, and with Im
mense trains, slevoless polonaises of
velvet elaborately embroidered in
colors, huge sashes knotted up in the
most marvellous way. colored silk
stocking*, also embroidered and exist
ing from fifteen to twenty dollars a
fiair, open worked shoes to display
this costly hosiery, silk pocket hand
kerchiefs, white lace veils, and funs
as huge as those our grandmothers,
used to furnish their grown up
daughters with- these are a few
among the many eeoontriclties just
imported from Purls by t his Saratoga
belle. It is not at all surprising that
toilettes so fur in advance of the pres
ent American mode should he ex
tremely conspicuous, and our fash
ionable belle seems to enjoy the
stares and comments which are liber
ally bestowed upon her. The young
indy of the present day is not to be
frightened because she is stared nt.
She expects Itnnd w ill be disappoint
ed if no one notices her. In what
else should she devote her whole lime
and thought except to the subject of
dress if she is not to In- looked at
when she has arrave l herself in rai
ment which would put the lilies of
the field to blush by its superior
slender?
slhnifMf Twills, I olort-d.
We saw last evening u double child,
or, more strictly speaking, two chil
dren joined together. The curiosity
is the offspring of colored parents,
Crittenden and Sarah Jones, of Ifeech
Island, S. C. One of the children is
a perfectly developed female, large
for her age, and wiili every appear
ance of health. Tin- other, who is a
male, is but imperfectly developed,
has only the rudiments of limbs, uud
does not eat, depending for suste
nance oil Ills sister. These two
beings art- joined together liy a wide
band, in the center of which one of
the lungs of these strange creatures
seems to he located. Touch the male
and the female will shrink ; pinch it,
and she will cry. Reverse the opera
tion, and still it is the female who
manifests sensibility. The head of
the mule is small and misshapen,
the ears presenting more the appear
ance of an animal's than u human
being’s. The pulsations of the heart
and the act of respiration can be
plainly seen in the ligament joining
the bodies. This ligament, if such it
ran be called, is joined to the girl at
the end of the breast bone, and to
the male lower down. It is broad
and thick, covered with skin like the
rest of the body. Whether there are :
two distinct sets of vital organs, or
whether both ure de|>cudont upon
one, has not yet been determined.
The latter opinion seems to prevail
however. It is apparent, at any rate,
that the male receives nourishment
through its companion. The mother :
and father of the children are strong l
and healthy. Twins were never I
born to them before. The twins are j
about eight weeks old . I iiffiixtn I On.) >

and I asked him if he didn't live by

see everybody can’t have a spring, and
therefore the necessity of going to

the old ruts, und to be resurrected, re

A man wants rest, especially after
