Tho following rules aro so simple and bo true, according to all business usage#, that every banker, broker, merchant or clerk, should post them up for reference. There being no such thing as a fraction in it, there is scarcely any liability to er ror or mistake. By no other arithmetical process can the desired information !>o obtained by so few figures: Six Per Cent—Multiply any given number of dollar# by tho number of days of interest desired; separate tho right hand figure and divide by six ; the result is the true interest on such sum for such number of days at six per cent. Eight Per Cent- Multiply any given amount for the number of days upon which it i# desired to ascertain tho inter est, of such sum for the time required, at eight per cent. Ten Per Cent--Multiply the same ns above, and divide by thirty-six. and the result will be the amount of interest at ten per cent. What It Will Do—lf a mechanic or clerk saves only 2% cents per day, from the time he is twenty-one until he is three score and ten, the aggregate, with inter est, will amount to $2,900; and a dally i savings of 27V* cents reaches the irnpor | tant sum of $29,000. A sixpence saved j daily will provide a fund of $7,000 nufli- I dent to purchase a good farm. There are ! few employees whoeannot save daily, by abstaining from the use of cigars, tobacco, | liquor, etc., twice or ten times the amount ! of the six cent piece. Our heart went out to that boy in a perfect flood of binder memories, back to our own light-hearted boyhood, when life was nil contour de roue, when the coming circus was an event in our youthful existence, when we were kept upon our behavior for weeks I adore it came, by alternate “fears of punishment or hopes of rewardand, oh, when once seated under that glorious canopy, upon the “ragged edge” of uu un planed plank, would we have exchanged places with any king on hi# throne? Once again wo thrill in every fibre, and clutch a fresh grip, on our plank, at that sub lime outburst of music! music by the big brass band. The grand nitre, knights and ladle#, velvet and spangles, royal stand ards and rich housings, upon such noble horses as were never seen but within the tented walls of a circus. How we envied that magnificent ring master his blue suit, gold stripes and glittering button#, cap a hi milifaire. If we could only be a ring master! or that little boy who, with fold ed arms and compressed lips, rode so bravely and erect upon his father’s head, or that fairy-like little girl, all spangle# and gauze, floating, almost (so lithe and tight she seemed), around the ring upon that coal black stood, or a clown! What splendid fellows, and so very, very funny. Sadly our affections vacillated between our several heroes of the arena, tho dou ble somersault, the hand spring, trapeze all bright and beautiful -until, with eyes dazzled at its splendor, we went homo to dream over the happy scene. For weeks after, wo could close our eyes, press the ild# with fancy's magic fingers, and see in “our mind’s eye” the circus, in all its glory—horse# and riders, spangle# and lights, bright; many-colored star*, red, gold, green and blue; aye, we saw “stars” in those days; we have seen them since; but, alas! in vain wo press our heavy eye lid# now, weary and worn. Our circus stars have faded from the firmament, gone out forever. But we glory in that boy, and rejoice with the little ones that “the circus is comiug," and many innocent hearts are filled with joy.
