Tho money in the ilnnks lit now being
lined to move tho cotton. The quunttti
on hand Is not so great as It was, though
a plenty to meet tho demands upon
good collateral.
Exchange—Tho hanks are selling on
New York at V t premium. All other points
premium.
Gold--115,but little offered.
Silver—Wo demand—no quotations,
oorrov.
Cotton yesterday was very quiet, tho
demand limited, and the receipts only
fair. f **
The greater number of orders for cotton
are In small lots. No heavy transactions
are reported. The spick on hand Is not as
great as was expected. but is increasing.

Bacon is a little weak and the demand
lightening. In Columbus It Is retailed at
15%c., which is u quarter less than It has
been *u|d f'>r. Lot Isvillo and St. Louis
are firm ns far as Bacon Is coneonied, be
cause t is scarce, though enough for the
demand. Bulk moats are down and are
quoted in St. Louis at 12 and Louisville
V 2%.

Demand for corn very light and weak- i

There Is considerable and increasing,
demand for Georgia and Alabama rust, j

legislate solely for her best interests.

hop of the City Liglit Guards was post,
poned until to-night. Everybody that will
go are promised a pleasant time. They
have a splendid dancing hall, ami with a

Col. L. P. Grant lias lu'on removed from
the Receivership and Col. Fisher put in his
place. We do not know anything of the
grounds on which tho decision was based,

ments. lie is one of tho first; railroad
men of the country, and Ids removal was
purely a matter of railroad engineering In
order that the road might serve some
other interest.

executive session was moved, nnd the

A dispatch was received hero yesterday
eveninq from Perry, Ga., stating that Mr.
D. TANARUS). Johnson, special traveling agent of

was found dead in his room. No further
particulars were received.

Paul M -thodlst Church, is soon to sever
his connection with it ns pastor. Helms,

tor at Santa Rosa, in that State. Mr.
Branch has Ix-on a very acceptable minis
ter to his church nnd to the people at
largo, and many will regret his going. He
will leave about the 13th, and his place will

The ladies of WMinton deserve great
praise for the gratifying success of the
Wynnton Festival, last week. They have
labored hard in the interest of their Sun
day School, and it seems that their noble
efforts are being rewarded. Lost Week
they prepared an elegant supjier, upd not
withstanding it rained on tho night set
apart for the Festival, quite a crowd gath
ered and the time pasmsl very pleasantly.
All there contributed to tho financial suc
cess of the- occasion, ami the re ult was
the receipts of the evening nmountod to
$M> 60. We hope the 'adies will meet with
success in their laudable effort to Imtld up
a Sunday School in Wynnton nnd supply
