KtK linnet In luilla. This is not, as one might expect from the name given it, a dance upon these fragile objects. It is executed iu this wise: The douecr, dressed in u eorsag' l and very short skirt, car ries tSwflulw wdieef of moderate diam eter fastened horizontally upon the top of her head. Around this wheel threads are fastened, equally distant from each other, ami at the end of each of these threads is a slip-noose, which is kept open by a glass bead. Thus equipped, the young girl comes toward the B|*otatc>rs with a basket full of eggs, which site passed around for inspection, to prove that they are real, and not imitations. The music strikes up a jerky, monotonous strain, and the danoer begins to whirl around witli great rapidity. Then, seizing an egg site outsit in one of the slip-nooses, and, with a quick motion, throws it from her in such a way as to draw tile knot tight. The swift turning of tile dancer produces a centrifugal force w hieh stretches the thread out straight like a ray shoot ing from the circumference of the circle. One after another the eggs are thrown out in these slip .nooses, until they make a hor izontal aureolo or halo' about the dan cer’s head. Then the dance becomes still more rapid--so rapid in fact that it is difficult to distinguish the fea tures of the girl; the moment is crit ical ; the least false step, the least ir regularity iu time, amt the eggs dash against each other, llut how can the d.tuce be stopped? There is but one way that is to remove the eggs in the way iu which they have been put in place. Tliis operation is by far the more delicate of the two. It is necessary that the dancer by a single motion, exact and unerring, should take hold of the egg, and remove it from tho noose. A single false mo tion oft he hand, the least interfer ence with one of the threads, and the general arrangement is suddenly bro ken, and the whole performance dis astrously ended. At last all the eggs are successfully removed; the dan cer suddenly stops, and without soemlug in the least dizzied by the dance of twcuty-ilvo or thirty min utes, she advances to the spectators witli a firm step, and presents them the eggs, which are mime liately bro ken in a fiat dish to prove that there is no trick about the performance.— Scribner's Monthly. A Toiirhlioc Inridrul. Not many years since certain mi ners, working far under ground, came upon tlie body of a poor young fellow who had perished in the suffo cating pit forty years before. Some chemical agent to which the body had been subjected an agent pre pared in the laboratory of nature had effectually arrested the progress of decay. They brought it up to the surface, and for a while, till thor oughly exposed to the atmosphere, it lay the image of a Hue, sturdy young man. No convulsions hud passed over the face in death the features were tranquil; the hair was black as jet. No one recognized the face; a generation had grown up since f lic miner went down into the shaft for the last time. But a totter ing old woman who had hurried from her cottage at bearing the news came up, and she knew again the face which through all these long years she had not forgotten. The miner was to have been her husband on the day after that, on which lie died. There were no dry eyes when the gray-headed old pilgrim east herself upon the youthful corpse and poured into ids deaf ear many words of en dearment unused for forty years. It was a touching contrast the one so old, the other so young. They had both been young these long years ago, but time had gone on with tlie living and stood still with the dead.— London Herald.
