BEAUTY AND FASHION. ; Tho party given ut tho Perry Houso ; last night, by the "Chips," was very well attended, and was one of the most pleas ant over given by them. Our own beauti ful ladles were out In numbers, and, ns usual, presented as beautiful an nppeur aiice as Is always characteristic of them. Two fascinating and beautiful young ladles from Atlanta wore tho centre of at traction, while two of Virginia’s beauties added their grace and elegance to the hap piness of tho occasion. Everybody scorned to be delighted as they danced to tho soul-inspiring music of the Italian band. One of the prettiest young ladles Colum bus ever had the honor to claim, who has just returned from the North, was radiant in her charms, and many a heart iieal faster ns they looked upon her peerless beauty. Tho occasion was matron!zed by' a charming man led lady from Atlanta, and one of the prettiest and most elegant of tho married ladles of Columbus. Ktill an other was there, who added to the pleas ure of those who preferred a pleasant con versation, while the nwt tread the mazes of the dance. The purty was a decided success, and the ladles so voted it, with the amendment that it bo repeated at an early day. Wo hope tho young men who know so well how to get up and manage a pleas ant affair, will, with their accustomed gallantry, heed tho unanimous vote they received from the ladles and glvo another hop. Tho dancing was kept up to a lab; hour, but when we left tender looks and soft words seemed in the ascendency, bill how could It bn otherwise among such a throng of beautiful womon and handsome men. This Daily Times of any day Is more generally read than any paper in this part of Georgia. Special Correspondence of Tin; Timer.) Eufaula, Ala., Nov. 18,1875. Dear Times: We arrived at this point lost night, after a must pleasant trip on board that popular steamer, the Julia Bt. Clair, which left Columbus same day. Af ter tea, we strolled to the banks of the Chattahoochee, feeling solemn-choly, hut with no Intent to plunge into the muddy stream or to commit any rash act. Quie tude reigned over the lovely city of Eu faula. Wo Bat meditating, “solitary and alone,” when we heard a startling sound of human voices, exclaiming, “Let ’em alone 1” “Don't part ’em“Let 'em have it out !”&c. We rushed to the scene, and there found In deadly combat Mcßae’s bull pup with an unknown pup of same species. Every effort was made to part them. Policemen sounded the alarm; In every direction came new arrivals; water, turpentine, alcohol, and even the dabs of the policemen wore thrust Into the mouths of the infuriated canines to part them, bill each held his grip; time 7 minutes- when they were dually separated; a drawn bat tle. After which twenty or more adjourn ed to the “Ruby” to discuss the merits of each imp. The celebrated pugilists, Hee uan and Sayers, could not have caused more excitement for the timo than those ; wo game pups. Yesterday Mr. H. Ramsey, ono of the oldest citizens of this place, attempted suicide by cutting his throat and stabbing himself with a pen-knife. He is still liv ing, with slight hopes of his recovery. Mental depression from long physical suf fering caused tho rash act. Eufaula has tho appearance of being the busiest city we have visited for several days. To-day the streets ure full of cotton, the owners of which are selling at 11?, to 12c. After supplying themselves with bagging and ties, a few pounds of bacon ami Hour, and paying for the same, they pocket the rest of the money and depart for home, to all appearances happy. Sev eral of the store-houses which were burnt a few weeks sinco are being rebuilt, all brick, which will add much to the appear ance of the old location; but from what my friend Robinson stated to me this morning, tho merchants from the lower country and Ozark doubt continue to go to Columbus to get their supplies al cheaper rales than at Eufaula. Tho Central Hotel is now the popular resort for tourists- kept by Messrs.. Hil lings A Moyo. Without disparagement to any other hotel In the clty.it is a good hotel; their table cannot bo excelled, and all the conveniences are first-class. Riddle, however, still lives and is ready for all comers. It is simply “change about” with us. Let all live. The weather to-day is cold and cloudy; fires comfortable. Yours, M. To-morrow's Tims will be read by largo number of people who trade in Co lumbus. Adirondack Murry tells in the Golden Rule, his experience In target shooting. Of his rifle he says: “It is superior to human control. It is inherently indepen dent as to the range and direction of its projectile. It will shoot whero it has a mind to, in spite of all one can do. It will hit everything but the target. It shoots as a cross-eyed nmn looks, the Lord only knows where. The more you practice with it, the more you are amazed at its ec centricities. You aim at a barn, and you hit a house. You shoot at a cat sitting on a well curb, and you kill a sheep in the next lot. You put up a target in one town, and a Sheriff waits upon you the next morning to inform you that you have killed several of the principal cit izens who lived in the next, besides women and chil dren.” The Times Is the host advertising medl um in this sect ion, and to-morrow It be comes still better, as wo have an order for two hundred extra copies of the paper to be sent to Florida and elsewhere. Ulvfr Xpw. Tho steamer George \V. tVylly leaves this morning. The boatmen report trade very dull on the river, and that but little cotton awaits them. A promising young man in Columbus lias Jaw enough for two sets of teeth. Never insult a man because he is poor in purse or raimem, for beneath a raggisl coat it may be that a muscle lies con cealed that could put a head on the oldest man in tho business. When a man has been hard at work in an obscure way for years and at length achieves success, nine-tenths of his ac quaintances insult him by offering con gratulations on his luck. Mesnrt t. Brcuifleld dt o>.|. Gentlemen—You will please ship us an other supply of your invaluable Female Regulator, and forward bill by mail. We tire happy to suite that this remedy gives better satisfaction than any article we sell. We have Imxui selling it since 1808, and witnessed many remarkable cures by it. Among others, there was a lady friend of ours who was sallow and sickly until she was twenty-six years old, when she was married. Her husband lived two years and died. She continued in bad health; in fact, she has never been what a woman ought to be. A few months after the death of her husband she saw your advertisement, and came to our store and bought a bottle of your Regula tor from us, and took it according to di rections. It has cured her sound anti well, brought her regular monthly peri ods on, and to-day she is a hearty, bloom ing widow—wit ti the use of but two bot tles of your Regulator, costing her only three dollars, when site had tried several physicians and spent a great deal of money without any benefit. Wishing you great success with your valuable reme dies, we are, respectfully yours, etc., w. Root & s. REMOVAL. C. H.
