Whenever you see anything that has a
tendency to disgust a “eominoreial tour
ist” Jt is a pretty well ascertained fact,
thatitis disgusting. Oneoflhemsaid yes
terday .that he went Intoagroeery house to
sell some goods, and left in disgust for
them ho found them—fifteen of the craft
all trying to make sales. Seven stood for
whiskey, four for flour, three for meat,
and one for dressed turkeys.
Surely tho “tourist” business is being
crowded, and profits are getting beaUti
fully less.
From tho large number of people upon
tho streets yesterday, wo thought busi
ness moro than usually brisk. The larger
dealers, however, said but little was done.
A number of people wero In the eity, but

At the next table Miss Wnoddle Shepherd,

The substantial part of tho programme
was Intercepted by the appearance of an
elegant fancy table, attended by Mrs,

this table every species of cuke and re

THE OYPSV CAMP
was a novel Institution, original in design
and very interesting. Miss Georgia Mcll

conspirators, and for a small sum you
could have your fortune told to your sat- j

THE I'OHT OFFICE
was oi>en at all hours, and the post

well patronized.

the offer of a boquet from sueli fair hands
made sales very easy. Tho fruit

“THE BUFFALO WILLIAM COMBINATION."
Frod Wilhelm stood al the door and sung
out the following Invitation:
“Pass right In, ladies and gentlemen,
little boys and girls -all walk rlghtln, and
witness for yourselves the living curiosi
ties and freaks of nature never before ex-1
liibitod on this continent. Here you will
find birds of rich and rare plumage; ani
mals from th# dense and uninhabited for
ests of Africa. Here you will also see the
man with a lightning mi nerve, who per
forms what no man has over dared to at
tempt before. He is known as ‘Buffalo
William,’ or ‘Tooth Carpenter Bill.’ He
will fearlessly enter the large iron cage,
to bo seen inside, containing the most wild,
ferocious anil untameablo animals ever
brought beforo the public. Fear not, la-
I dies, but pass right, in; the animals are i
all stuffed, and could not, if they would,
harm a hair on the head of the baldest
pate. I never was known to tell a lie in
my life hut onetime; then l walked fifteen
miles before breakfast, to correct the
error.”
This talented association of experienced
performers, was a valuable accession to
the entertainment, and a dscldod success.
Crowds upon crowds continued until a late
hour to besoigo the door for admission,
which was granted at the very moderate
price of ten oents. A more diversified and
curious menagerie was never beforo seen
in the eity. Although many rare animals
and tropical birds which wore expected
failed to arrive, still the vast room of exhi
bition was well filled with cages and dens
containing specimens of the feathery and
| animal creation. It would fill too much
space to attempt anything like n just
enumeration. Wo must be permitted,
however, to specify tiie East Indian bird,
“the mine,” the only one ever brought to
this country, about tho size of our mock
ingbird, but speaking plainer than a par
rot or the English storking; its question
was, “wliat will you have,” and then an
swer, “whiskey and water.” One great
curiosity was a nightengale, from
; the shores of the Moditorrcidon, with one
|of its young. Those beautiful specimens
j of natures handiwork never sing until af
ter 12 at night; as we left befo-c that hour
! we did not have the pleasure of hearing
: them; rite ostrich from our own plains
was gigantic in size, and though apim
rently docile, seemed to be feared by its
; keeper; then there was “an owl with seven
! owlets.” lu the animal line, there wore
! numerous and striking curiosities; the
Irish lion a furious looking beast; a sad
| and docile sheep, natiouolity not given; a
j male cow of the “bashan species,” and a
1 great variety of dogs, some with hair, and
some hairless. There were also many
specimens of rare dead animals. One was
! a thing which seemed like nil immense
j shoe, but expanded itself to the sire of an
' Indian canoe, and was we think the car
| cass of an immense alligator, probabij’
■ from the Okeefenokoo swamp, and a most
hideous spectre with mummy (.skin, and
glittering teeth, thnt made the blood rub
cold, Was labelled “lieoutlful specimen of
