HtIHTVILLE THE SCENE OF ACTION. For some time past tho citizens in and around Hurtvllle have been greatly an noyed by frequent roblsiries, and deeds of during theft. It will he reiueiiibcri-d that some ten days ago, the supp. sed Icadei of the gang WAS KILLED hy a bailiff, who was attempting to arrest him for stealing, an account of which we published In the Times, as sent us by our correspondent at Hatelieohubbeo. the last OtmiAOß occurred in Hurtvllle on last Saturday flight. We learn that three of the gang attempted to force an entrance into the mill owned hy Long A Pollard, and while breaking the door were discovered by young man who had charge of the mill named Bin liny Wallace. As soon as he ascertained that tho mill was tube robbed, he made for the front door of the mill, and when lie got there found a stout negro in the act of entering. He raised his slim gun and FiRED. The negro fell off the platform, hut n . Sooner than ho saw him fall, a volley oi shots came at him Iroin another direction Hedrew his revolver and defended him self from tho MURDEROUS ASSAULT as he host could, shooting another one oi the villlans. They soon discovered that though single handed he was aunt il fm them all, and beat a hasty retreat, not I e fore however they had shot him in TWO PLACES, neither of which more than grazed him Up to yesterday no clue had lawn galnco of them, though lor some distance they wore tracked by the blood they shed us they ran off. We hope the people of thin section will exert themselves and bring the fugitives and outlaws to justice. Mi. Wallace is not hurt to any extent, though it Is supposed that ut least one of the ne gro burglars Is mortally wounded. iauard < rltl<-l*in. The members of St. James Colored Methodist Church gave a concert last night at Springer’s Opera House. The house was crowded with well dit'ss ed and orderly negroes, nil seeming hap py and contented. A tew months after the death of her husUtnd she saw your advertisement, and came to our store and bought a bottle ot >our Regula tor from us, and bKk it according to di rations. It has cure! her sound and well, brought her regular monthly peri ods on. and to-day she is a hearty, bhajm ing widow— with 'the use of but two bot tles of your Regulator, costing her only three dollars, when she had tried several physicians and B|>ent a great deal of money without any l*uctit.
