A gentleman ealled upon us yesterday
and asked that wo correct tho roport wo
gave in yesterday’s issue in regard to tho
difficulty between two sisters In Browne
ville. This wo cheerfully do. Ho says
they are sisters, and that wo were correct
Ii: stating the offending party had lieen
discharged by tho Eagle & Phoenix Mills
for her conduct, but that we wore wrong
In soylng her sister struck her with apnir
of tongs. He says it was only a piece of a
pair of tongs. He claims wo were wrong
in saying her eye was knocked out, but
that it was only a deep gash under the
left oyo that the Doctor, sowed up. This
much liesays, and further avers that it
was no difficulty but only a Ditto unpleas
antness.
Wo make the correction and are glad
to know that it was not a row, and that
no eye was knocked out, but only a little
unpleasantness, and that only a pieceof a
pair of tongs was used in cutting tho deep
gash, instead ofn pair of tongs as was
first reported. Ho requests to further state
that wo foil Into an error in saying tho
family and friends were sad over tho
trouble; all were bright and happy,
as if no unpleasantness bad occurred, or
no pieceof a pair of tongs used.
Fine N(uck,
Col. William Tillman, better known as
“Bill Tillman,” has been boasting lately of
his lino cattle. The pidogroe, and tho
enormous quantity of milk they let down,
wo lia vo forgotten.
Yesterday ho Imd brought In front of
ills store, a couple of them, intending to
forward them to Ilia plantation. They
wore partially dragged ami tollod to the
wagon, but wlien thoy arrived his friends
advised him to delay the trip ns they
wore too fine to stand it. The fineness
consisted In the ability of anybody to look
through thorn. After a little persustlon
lio had them propped up and hauled back
to his residence. A good chanee for an
enterprising butcher to get a couple of
poor bovines cheap presents Itself, if t hoy

Yesterday Mayor 8. B. Cleghorn held
; Ids first court. The party to bo adjudgod
i was a little negro about the size of a nut
; meg, and appeared in all his minutonoss
to answer tho charge of disorderly con
duct. Tho ease was plain that tlio little
chap had been disorderly, but tho ques
tion arose what should be done with such
a small parcel of disorder. Tho Mayor
decided tho question In favor of common
sense and agreed to lot the urchin depart,
provided his mama would use a hickory
on him to tho extent of thirty nino lashes.
Ho departed and Ills parent snatched a
limb from one of the elms that grow In
Ihe Court yard, and for a few minutes
things were lively, especially in tho roar
of tho youth.

THE REHEARSAL!
MEMORIAE CONCERT-THE MONUMENT IT
MUST HE A SUCCESS!
Our citizens do not realize what a treat
lis In store for them in the beautiful
| tableaux and scenes in
THE MISTLETOE BOUOII.
We witnessed yesterday aftomoon Iho
rehearsal of this baronial play, and wo do
not hesitate to say that even tho rehearsal
was worth more than tho price of admis
sion to the exhibition next Monday night.
Think of It, render! The loveliest maid
ens of onr city are participants, and there
are well, several, that ail Georgia can
not excel in grace and loveliness.
THE IIA HON and BARONESS
maintain the dignity due to those stations,
and dispense tlio honors of the baronial
hall Avllh characteristic courtesy. The
graceful bride trips llgldly by tho side of
tho proud and handsomo groom; tho one
loA'ely, Ihe other Level.
Thoy approach Hie host und hostess,
when the bride makes n bewitching court
esy and tlio groom bows. Then follow
other gay couples dancing the minuet.
All! tho jauntily set hat- the sweet
smile—tho native grace. Go, render; nh<
Is worth seeing.
TUI! BRIDE.
Columbus Is proud of her the nairr man
ner, tho dainty step, the fairy-liko retreat,
the hide and seek! Tho picture liko a
grouping of beautiful muldens, all in tho
early bloom of life- ladies to Hie manor
born.
THE MUSIC
is touching and sweet—now high, now
Ioav; and a silvery voice pleads in sweet
est tones the cause of “The Mistletoe
Bough—oh! The Mistletoe Bough.” Go
hear that A'olce, and see those maidens
dance tho minuet, nnd feel Hint there’s
life “Thero’s life in tho old land yet.”
THE COURT DRESSES.
Would you see how our own sweet, modest
women look when dressed as high-bred
ladles of tlio olden time ? If so, your cu
riosity will be well repaid by going to see
this beautiful play.
THE OBJECT
is dear to every Southern heart- -tho
building of a monument in honor of our
soldier-dead. No patriot who has money
Avili refuse to contribute one half-dollar to
this sacred cause.
OUR WOMEN-OO I) BLESS THEM!
They never tire In working for soldiers,
either dead or living. In their hands this
mission can not fail. Every man, woman
and child in the city, if able, should attend
tills play on Monday night.
THE MONUMENT
will be an ornament to the city for all
time, and a standing proof that the good
deeds of men xvill live after them.

An exchange says: A clergyman's cat
at West Springfield lias shown some re
markable symptoms of natural depravity.
After giving birth to seven kittens recent
ly, of various colors, she removed the two
blackest from the group, and utterly re
fused to take any notice of them.. No
sooner were they restored to tier nest
than she again and again ejected them,
and death finally relieved the little waifs.
And this in defiance to the fifteenth
amendment, which declares there shall be
no distinction on aeoout of color! No;
other than a Massachusetts eat would
have dared to thus offend the majesty of
the law.
IBnd Treatment.
From the Montgomery Bulletin, we
learn tho Montgomery Greys did not
fare so well even after their hard drill in
the rain nt Selma. Tho Bulletin says:
"At the Selma Fair 8350 was offered to the
best drilled military company appearing.
Tlio Greys alone entered, nnd now avo
learn that thoy have received one-half tho
premium offered, $175, less an enhance fee
of $35, leaving the company the magnifi
cent sum of $l4O. This, with the remem
brance of many courtesies extended them
while In Selma make tho boys feel quite
happy.
A Good Appointment.
The appointment of R. I’. Porter ns Col
ored Sexton, by Mr. Odom, has met the
general approval of tho best class of the
colored people.
Mr. Odom, we think, acted wisely in
making on appointment instead of leav
ing it to tho vote of tho churches. Strife
and contention among them was already
browing, and Mr. Odom seeing It, settled
Mho question by making an appointment
himself. Tho appointee is n very intelli
gent man of his race, and one for Avhom
they seem to have respect. He is very
well thought, of by the citizens of Colum
bus.
tinme,
Our market seems to be well stocked
Avitli all kinds of game and fish. Tills
may lie to a great degree attributed to tho
game law, which protects the game In tho
proper seasons. Hunters represent birds
and ducks plentiful. Every day wo see
squirrels, rabbits and possums offered for
sale on tlio streets nnd at the Market.
Mne More Huy*.
Nino more days and Christmas Avili be
upon us. Many n little heart is counting
almost tho minutes ami hours before they
will hear the tinkling of Santaclaus’ bolls.
Christmas is tho same to tho children that
it Avas once to all of us now grown. Save
something for them, and probably in a
few days, more of our enterprising mer
chants will toll you through the Times
where you can get Christmas presents,
from a doll to a silk dress.

HEARTY BLOOMING WIDOW.
Maiuetta, Ga., March 9,1870.
Messrs. Bradfield A o>.|
Gentlemen—You will please ship us an
other supply of your invaluable Female
Regulator, and forward bill by mail. We
are happy to state that this remedy gives
i (letter satisfaction than any article we
| sell. Wo have been selling it since 1888,
and witnessed many remarkable cures by I
it. Among others, there was a lady
friend of ours who was sallow and sickly
until she was twenty-six yoars old, when
she was married. Her husband lived two
years nnd died. She continued in had
health; in fact, she has never been what
a woman ought to lie. A few months
after the death of her husband she saw
your advertisement, and came to our j
store and bought a bottle of your Regula
tor from us, and took it according todi-i
reetions. It has cured her sound and
well, brought her regular monthly peri
ods on, and to-day she is a hearty, bloom- j
ing widow—with tho use of but two bot
tles of your Regulator, costing her only
three dollars, wherFshe had tried several
physicians and spent a great deal of
money without any benefit. Wishing you
great sutxiess with voui valuable reme- 1
dies, we are, respectfully yours, etc.,
