THE OPERA HOUSE.
A Night of Mirth, Music and Refined
Minstrelsy.
Says the Huntsville, Ala.. Mercury :
The creme de la creme ol' Huntsville’s
wealth, culture and intellect crowded
into the ouera house last night to see
and hear the mammoth minstrel troupe
led by Mr. Al. G. Field. Mr. Field is
well known in this city, he having lived
here in days gone by, and his name
alone was sufficient guarantee to till the
house. Mr. Field is as genial and jovial
as he ever was. Handsome and dashing,
he is every inch a thorough, cultivated
gentleman. He tips the beam at 230
pounds, and fairly efl'ervesees with tun
of a refined nature.
The question of filling the opera
house is no longer a question when a
company like that ot Al. Field’s is an
nounced. The great audience of last
igbt proved that. When sterling
merit holds the boards the auditorium is
always jammed.
Field’s Minstrels are original. Every
thing connected with the entertainment
from the first part to the closing act is i
new and pleasing. Tne old time first
part is dispensed with and the situation
revealed by this troupe when the cur
tain rises is novel and grand.
The music is new and sparkling.
There is not a single song or act in the
performance that does not smack of
freshness. Even the “gags” tire new.
No old chestnuts, no stale jokes, noth-,
mg of the antiquated variety mars the
pleasure of the entertainment.
The audience sit and laugh and when
the curtain falls at length the general,
verdict seems of approval. “Greatest
show in the world!’’ "Never spent a
more pleasant night in my life!” “Wish
we had Field's Minstrels ull the year
round!’’ “Never laughed so much in
my life!” These and kindred comments
greeted the ears of the Mercury staff as
ttie audience dispersed when the show
was over.
This great combination leaves to-day
for Chattanooga, and we hope they wiil
return to Huntsville before the close of
the season. Their return visit will find
“standing room only” a premium.

On the Sea Shores of England
may be found a moss growing upon the
rooks. This moss, fanned by the bnezes
of the north sea and watered by the foam
and spray of its waves, and of slow
growth, is gathered, ground into a tine
powder, and sold under the name of sea
moss farina. It forms a very palatable
nutritious food, when prepared in com
bination with milk, cream, eggs or sugar,
asjblane mange, charlotte russe, cream
custard, cream pie, etc. It is especially
adapted for food for children, and is
eagerly sought by many adults. It is
