Capt. Newman. —Business is better jn
Brunswick, all the year ’round, than in
any city I know of.
Capt. U. Dart.—All branches of busi
ness should be suspended Monday in
honor of Lee’s birthday.
Lieut. ,T. C. Drake.—Some of the
waters about Brunswick are as good as 1
have ever seen for oyster culture.
Chief of Fire Department G. H. Mer
rifield.—What Brunswick needs, and
needs badly, is an electric fire alaim.
Col. George T. Fry, of Atlanta.—
Brunswick is one of the prettiest cities I
know of. The moss-hung trees here are
simply grand.
Mr. F. McC. Brown. —With the for
tune telling birds in town, all Bruns w ick
needs to give her a complete metropoli
tan air is a gutter hand.
Mr. J.lt. Freeman, of Waycross.—l
am proud tiiat Brunswick is in Georgii,
for there is no doubt but she will be the
largest city on the .Southern coast in a
few more years.
Mr. 11. R. Symons.— I thought I
could handle a gun pretty well, hut
since I have seen the man who headed
the minstrel parade this morning, I have
decided that I was mistaken.
Mr. Constance Miller.—Ail who want
to may say that advertising-doesn’t pay ;
but advertising in The Times certainly
does. A lew days ago I received an or

some goods. He wrote that he saw our
advertisement in The Times.
Mr. E. A. Nelson. —The closest munic
ipal election I ever heard of was the
oielieldiu Brunswick in 1883. Then
the successful candidate for mayor only
received thirteen majority, while
tlie four gentlemen who were elected
aldermen only had a majority of one
each.
Mr. .Jilhn C- Green.—The best way
for Brunswick to secure such a tire de
partment as she needs is for the council
to secure a limited number of regular
men and pay them for tlie work, and a
number of call men whose duty it shall
bo to answer all alarms. These latter
should ha paid so much for each fire
they attend.
The Riflemen Will Enter.
Capt. P. S. Morris and the members
of the Brunswick Riflemen have decided
