Around the Hotel Lobbies and in the

R. F. Wylly, of Savannah, is in tbg
city.
George Winship, of Atlanta, was in
the city yesterday.
Gapt. A. L. Butts, of Maoon, was at
the Oglethorpe last night.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Lang left yester
day for Waynesville after a visit to
the city, during which Mr. Lang was
quite ill.
Messrs. P. E. Hayes, of Pawtucket,
R. 1., and F. P. Toof, of Paterson, N.
J., gentlemen largely interested in
cotton mills, were at the Oglethorpe
yesterday.
Mr. Louis Fendig, of Rensellaer,
lud., a leading druggist of that city,
is in the city on a visit of two weeks.
Mr. Fendig is a brother of Chairman
of Council Albert Fendig.
Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Hoynes and lit
tle son returned to Savannah yester
day. Mr. Hoynes has been tilling the
position of local manager of the Stand
ard Oil company during the absence of
Mr. J. S. M. Symons.
Miss Fairy Finney, who has been
the guest of the family of Col. J. E t
dußignon at the Oglethorpe during
the winter, leaves today for her home
in New York, accompanied by Miss
Lake and a party of friends, who have
been sojourning at Jekyl. They will
spend two days in Washington en
route home.

Happenings That Are Too Short for

Mr. 11. S. McCrary lias received a
carload of horses.
The Mallory liner Rio Grande sailed
yesterday for New York.
City Arbitrator C&lnan has granted
a reduction of 12>jj per cent, in the
lax assessment of the extensive prop
erty of the Bruuswick company.
A song service will occur at the
Presbyterian church tonight. A choir
of twenty-tive voices, accompanied by
a quartette of brass instruments and
Miss Winter on the violin, will fur
nish the music.
A FINE SHIP.
TheNtw Steel Bark Olivia, Now in
Port Here.
The trimmest sailing craft ever seen
at a Brunswick wharf is the Norwe
gian bark Olivia, now at Terras’, dis
charging ballast.
The Olivia is anew steel bark, built
in 1892, and registering 1,162 tons.
She is 221 feet long, 25 feet wide and
21 feet deep. She was built by A.
McMillan & Son, Dumbarton, Scot
land, and is owned at Christiansand,
Norway, by T. B. Olsen and others.
The master of the Olivia is Capt. P.
A. Gunnesen, a relative of Capt. O. Jo
hnnneson of this city. The captain is
proud of his pretty ship, and keeps her
as neat as a pin.

TWO CONVICTS.
A Thief and a Gambler Sent Up From
City Court.
Judge Atkinson held a short session
of city court yesterday to try two
criminal cases.
Henry Magwood, who robbed Grant
Allen, the barber, Sunday morning,
was convicted of larceny from the
house and sentenced to nine months.
Philip Ammous,charged with gam
ing, was adjudged guilty, and sen
tenced to six months.

AFTER LENT
The “Little Laborers” Will Give An
Unique Entertainment.
The “Little Laborers’ ” circle of the
King’s Daughters will give an enter
tainment for charitable purposes im
mediately after Lent.
The members of the organization are
called to meet at the residence of Mrs.
WalT this afternoon at 2 :45. Parts are
to be assigned for the entertainment
and a full attendance is desired.
