were turned on half an hour late last
night.
F. M. Scarlett, has returned from
an extended business trip to Florida

John Curry, of St. Simon, has just
received COO tons of lake ice by
schooner.
Anew and larger switchboard will
shortly arrive and be put in by the
Hell Telephone company.
The Plant System had about thirty
men employed yisterday in paving the
ground around the freight warehouse.
Judge Sweat did not announce a de
cision in the Briesenick receivership
case yesterday. It is thought he will
do so today.
Tlie school of the Misses Gale will
close for the summer today, and inter
esting exercises will be held at the
school building.}
C. L. Goodwin, of Valdosta, super
intendent. of construction of the South
ern Telephone company, arrived yes
terday and is at the Pennick house.

assembled that the resignation of our
mayor is most dpeply deplored and
his resignation is accepted with re
gret; feeling tiiat the people have
lost an executive officer whom it will
be hard to replace with an equal.

nished the retiring mayor.

The subscription list for the Uni
form Rank encampment grew consid
erably yesterday. The committee has
met with no refusals, and many of
the citizens have voluntarily ap
proached the committee and tendered
their subscriptions.

CRIMINAL COURT.
Superior Court Did a Good Day’s Work Yes
terday.
Superior court yesterday took up
the criminal docket and disposed of a
number of cases.
Joe Gugley, charged with assault
with intent to murder, w'as found
guilty of stabbing another not in his
own defense. lie was sentenced to
twelve months on the chsingang.
Charlie Watson, charged with bur
glßry, was convicted of larceny from
the house. To a second charge for the
same offense he pleaded guilty, and
got twelve mouths for each offense.
Bill Hayward was convicted of
cruelty to animals and sentenced to six
months.
The criminal docket will be resumed
this morning.
A Drum Corps.
Eight of the bright young boys of
Brunswick have enlisted in a drum
corps for the Ritlemen, and have al
ready ordered their uniforms. The
members of the corps are as follows:
