SWEAT TAKES ISt’UE.
He Looks Horns With the Attorney General
on Convict Question.
Judge Sweat has crossed swords
with Attorney Ueneral Terrell on the
convict question. The following spe
cial from Baxley tells the tale :
“Judge J.' L. Sweat today took
square issue with the recent opinion
of Attorney General Terrell.
“The occasion was the opening of
the superior court of Appling county,
over which Judge Sweat presides, and
of which Col. John W. Bennett is the
solicitor general.
“Judge Sweat, in charging the
grand jury, dwelt at considerable
length upon the misdemeanor convict
question, declaring that in his opin-
ion, such convicts could be worked
upon public works alone.
“He joined isgue with Attorney
General Terrell and gave it as his
opinion that neither directly nor in
directly could private parties work
them.
“The judge was very emphatic when
discussing this subject.”

MOBBED THE CAPTAIN.
Crowd of Sailors From the Gleneida Tried to
Do Violence.
A number of sailors attempted to
mob Captain Pettingill, of the Ameri
can hark Gleneida, last night. .
The men were on the Gleneida on
her voyage from South Africa to this
port, and, when they reached here,
were, as is customary, paid off and
discharged. They had some grudge
against the captain and had sworn to
have revenge.
Last night they accosted Captain
Pettingill on Bay street, near the
store of E. H. Mason & Cos., and
sought to draw him into a dispute.
The captain told them to go about
their business, but they did not obey.
One of the men, while the others were
engaging the captain’s attention in
front, crept around to his back, with
his hand in his pocket. Mr. O. V,
Barkuloo, who happened to be nearby,
stopped this fellow with a blow of his
fist. The other conspirators took
fright andlled.
The police were given descriptions
of the men, and were looking for them
last night, but could not locate them.

NO LIGHT TO SAVE.
How tbe Light and Water Company Con
tributed to the General Discomfort.
The Light and Water company’s effi
cient force, carrying out its usual pol
icy of high regard for the welfare and
• convenience of the public, kindly al
lowed some of the most important arc
lights to remain dark last night, so
that the citizens who were unfortu
nate enough to be out in the beastly
weather could stick their feet itito the
very deepest and widest of the puddles
and fall over the largest and choicest
samples of fallen tree-limbs.
An unlucky gentleman who was try
ing to skip across the intersection of
A and G streets through a darkness
apparently denser than a lump of coal,
got tangled in a spreading branch, fell
over into a running rivulet of rain
water and was nearly run over by a
hack.
When somebody is killed, as hun
dreds have been injured, by the un
equalled carelessness ot this indefen
sible aggregation of incompetency and
avarice, the city or the people will
perhaps rise in their wrath and refuse
to suffer longer,
NO SLEEP FOR THREE MONTHS
Oae Cause of Sleeplessness That Can Be
Readily Overcome.
Mr. Wm. llandschu of 56th street,
Cotton Alley, Pittsburg, Pa., ex
presses himself as follows regarding
the uew remedy for that common and
obstinate disease, piles: “I take
pleasure in stating that. I was so af
flicted with the piles that for three
months I got no regular sleep; 1 be
came completely prostrated, the doc
tors did ine no good; my brother told
me of the new remedy for plies, the
Pyramid Pile Cure; I purchased from
my druggist three 50 cent bottles and
they completely cured me. lam once
more at my work and but for this ex
cellent medicine I should be on my
back. I take great pleasure in writ
ing this letter because so many peo
ple are sufferers from this trouble who
like myself did not know where to
look for a permanent, reliable, safe
cure.”
Experience with the Pyramid Pile
Cure in the past three years has dem
onstrated to the medical profession, as
well as to thousands of sufferers from
piles, that is the safest and most ef
fectual cure ever offered to the public,
containing no opiates or poisons of
any kind, painless and convenient to
handle and being sold by druggists at
bO cents and $1 per box, is within the
reach of every sufferer.
Very frequently two or three boxes
have made a complete cure of chronic
cases that had not yielded to other
remedies for years.
There is scarcely a disease more ag
gravating and obstinate to cure than
the various forms of piles and it is a
common practice to use ointments,
salves and similar preparations con
taining dangerous poisons to remove
the trouble. The Pyramid has super
ceded all of these ineffectual remedies
and no one suffering with any rectal
trouble makes any mistake in giving
the Pyramid a trial.
If in doubt as to the nature of your
trouble send to the Pyramid Drug Cos,
Albion, Mich., for a valuable little
book on piles, describing all forms of
the disease and describing the method
of cure.
Any druggist can furnish the Pyra
mid Pile Cure as it is the best known
and most popular remedy for piles and
if you ask him he can doubtless refer
you to many people in your vicinity
who have been cured completely by
it.
