TO CONSOLIDATE YARDS AND SHOPS Rumor Affecting Prospective De-* velopments in Railroad Ciroles. AS TO SOUTHERN iHD PLAHT SYSTEM Movem 'a's of These *wt Lines Will Now Be Washed Witk Inortasiig latereit Wiat Rumor Says About Them. A rumor that appears to be well fonnded is afloat to the effeot that at an early date the yards of the South ern and Plant System will be consoli dated here and one yardmaster will be appointed to have complete oontrol of both. The rumor is in connection with the one reoeDtly reported to the effect that the Southern will shortly begin to dee the Plant System’s tracks in entering and leaving Brunswick. The rumor now goes further and states that the Southern trains will be oarsd for at the Plant System's shops. If these contemplated changes take' place they will in a measure revolu tions < the ru lroad traffic in the city limits. As it now is the Southern has for many years been handioappsd with a long run of over three m’las to get to its passenger and freight depot after entering the oity limits. Tbla was made possible by the borseeboe curve that tbu traok take* after leav ing GJorge atreet and oireling all around the boulevard and the water’s edge. The Plant System’* improve ments on it* water front w.ll give ample yard room for the two roads and the use of the Plant SysUm’s shops will largely do away with the Southern’s shop, four miles from the city . Recent visits of officials of both roads and the apparently reliability of the rumors make them worth print ing and very interesting If true. A few weeks’ lime will tell the tale. “A H' art As Sturdy iffs ok.” Bum*hat about the blood which the heart must'pump at the rate of 70 times a minute? Result of Dewey’a Work Ussd far Bal ia.*. Out at the Southern Docks much at tention is being attracted by the ship, John Swan, which is discharging a cargo of ballast preparatory to load ing with rosin. The fort at Manila, which was de stroyed by Dewey during the late war, was afterwards fold to oontraotore to ba used again for building purposes. There was much, however, that was useless, and that has been used by dif ferent ships for ballast, aod It was wilh that that the John Swan, which is direct from Manila, was loaded. In composition ths remains are very much like concrete, though £heav iar and harder. Small pieces are being brought to the oity where they are In great demand by curiosity seekers. BRUNSWICK GA. TD NAME JUDGES AND SOLICITORS Various Committeemen Have Ex pressed Their Views On the Subject. AGAINST CIRCUIT CONVENTIONS. Tb Preple Are to Nsms Their Ohoios—An Interesting Question and tbe Way it Will Be Battled. An Atlanta dispatch says. “In the nomination of judge* and solicitors for the various judiolal circuit* of Georgia, tbe right of choice will be exerclsad bythe people of each circuit at a uniform primary, and not by convention composed of delegates from tbe different oountles of tbe clr cult. This important point, mvolviug the interpretation of the constitutional lamemendment, taking the election oat of tbe legislature end placing It in the hands of tbe people, has practioally been determined upon by the members of tbe State executive oomraittee, tbe large majority of whom take the posi tion that tbe Domination of judge and solicitor in eaoh oirouit should be set tled by tbe people at a oirouit primary. From the tenor of oommunioetloDs addressed to the Constitution by eaoh oommitteeman who could be reached little doubt is left that when tbe State 1 committee oomes together in tbs first break of March, no time will leULngonce for all the question that discussion sinoe the r f i • adoption of the amendment by tbe IrgistjHure. ' . V- For tbe'firet time thia year the elec tion 6f judge* and solicitors by the people will be put to a practiosl test under the recent amendement, and it will be the duty of the executive com mittee t* define just bow the eleotion shall be conducted, and to what degree the people aball enjoy the privilege given them by the new amendment. A large majority of those members of the executive committee who have beeti beard from, take tbs firm stand that to allow tbe nomination tob made in eaob circuit by a seleot com mittee, would be to reinstate tbe same possibility for wrong; in fact, even to a great extent than existed formerly wben tbe election lay in the trends of tbe legislature. HOW ELECTION WILL BEHELD. It is proposed that on the day of the general primary, before tbe gathering of tbe State demooratio oonventlon, the people of tbe oountlee of eaob cir cuit shall vote for their own judge and solicitor at tbe same time their votes are oaet for gjvernor and atatebouse officials. In this way, it is urged, there can be no doubt as to who the peopls of each oirouit want forjudge and solicitor. When tbe vote of each oounty in every oirouit has been con solidated at noon tbe day following the primary, tbe results for judge and solicitor will he certified to by tbe oounty committee and forwarded to the obeirman of the State committee, who will lay it before tbe State con vention, whiob will foi mally ratify the action of tbe respective circuits, plso ing ail nominations upon tbe general State ticket ae required by law.
