A startling incident, of which Mr. John
Oliver, of Philadelphia, was the subject, if
narrated by him as follows: “I was in a

CAPT. W. H. WHALEY ASSAULTED.

Wafoh Stolen.
Capt. W. n. Whaley, one ofth
wealthiest oitizens of South Georgia,
and owner of extensive dock proper
ties hers, says be was assaulted and rob
bed last night about S o’clock, while
leaving his office for the Southern
homeward bound train. When seen
in the car at the depot by a Times Re
porter, Capt. Whaley was suffering
from a severe blow on the head, that

right hand, which he thinks was made
iu falling on the railroad track after
being struck. To a Times reporter, lie
said:
