Many Heard Her Tall Yesterday

They Lett This Morning Af er Being
Royally En’erta<ned By Bruns

cTrof. Booker T. Washington and
bis wife made many friends here, not
only among tho colored but some of
the best white oitizens. The latter’s
talk to women was excellent and be
low we give a synopsis of tbe same:
“I hope that you and I have reached
that period of life when we can be
called thoughtful women. Although
what I shall attempt to say will be of
the simplest nature, yet 1 trust you
may agree with me in considering it
the most practical and hence the most
important message not only for you
and me but for all of our race. No
people who disregard the fundamental
laws of living [and doing, can hope
fjr permanent growth and develop
ment, This audience is properly
msde up of women; that portion of
the race who already and who will al
ways constitute the motherhood of the
nation.
“It wat the rieolaration of tbe great
French emperor Napoleon, that the
gnaieat need of his country was
mothers, and today there is no one
pretent who would venture to deny
that, the most serlou drswb ok to us
from any point of view, is the iHck of
a carefully trnimd motherhood. It is
an old but true adage: "A stream
cannot rise above its souroe.” We are
the souroe, and we need not expect
the girls and boys of the race to be
better either physionlly or morally
than we are. I sometime* wonder if
only large uumbsr of women take the
time to consider this fact seriously.
In consenting to come before you
women today 1 am influenced by this
fact more than anything else—-we need
S8 a race, a food, strong pubiio senti

morality. There is no use argu ng,
we do not think enough of these two
ian oticondwe are 100 indifferent, to
ready lo siy “I keep wtl 1 , my hoys
and girls behave themselvea, and I
have nothing to do with ihs rest of the
race.” No nation or race has ever
oome up by entirely overlooking its
members who are less fortunate, less
ambitious, less sound in body and
hence in soul, and we cannot do it.
We must uot do it. There are too
many of us down. The condition of
our raop, brought about by slavery,
ignorance, poverty, intemperance
ought to make ns know that in half a
century we cannot afford to lo o
Right of tho large majority of the race
who have not as yet thrown off the
badge of theevils which I have men
tioned.
In nprtsin northern city only two

THE, BEST PRESCRIPTION IS
Grove’s Tasteless Chill Tonic.
The formula is plainly printed on every bottle—hence you
know just what you arc taking when you take Grove's. Imitators
do not advertise their formula knowing that you would not buy
their mcdi-lne it you knew what it contained. Grove’s contains
Iron and Qt initio put up in correct proportions and is in a Tasteless
iorm. The Iron acts as a tonic while the Quinine drives the
malaria out of ihc system. Any reliable druggist will tell you that
Grove’s is the Original and that all other so-called Tasteless
Chill Tomes are imitations. An analysis of other chill tonics shows
that Grove’s is superior to all others in every respect. You
are not experimenting when you take Grove’s—its superiority
and excellence having long been established. Grove’s is the
only Chill Cure sold throughout the entire malarial sections of
the United States. No Cure, No Pay. Price, 50c.
