some time Capt. Johannessen has been
corresponding with colonies of these
folks who reside at present in New York
state and the letters received from them

These people are farmers and are in
good circumstances and if they decide
to locate here they will purchase farm
land.

Washington, July 31. —Minister *Wu took a
message to the state department today ~whichhe re
ceived last night which confirms the reports received
yesterday as to the safety of the ministers at Pekin
and tells about the prompt measures taken by the
Chinese government to protect the foreigners.

“Brunswick has sent word ahead that
she exqecla to work another Anderson
racket on the Y M. C. A. team in three
games this week at the park, and will
carry off all three games: That Bruns
wick has a good team no one will doubt
who has kept up with their excellent
work since tbeir organization, and Au
gusta will see a team of nine good hall
players. On the other hand Augusta is
fully able to cope with tbe visitors and
the games will be eiciting and Augusta
will win her share of the games. If pres
ent plans do not fail Augusta will have
the best team to meet Brunswick that
she has put on tbe diamond this season,
and the men who will wear the Augusta
uniforms will make It interesting for tbe

LIBRARY ASSOCIATION MEETING.
The Brunswick Library Association
met yesterday afternoon, and among
other things decided to give another
moonlight excursion to St. Simona and
next Tuesday was the date agreed upon.
The boat will remain at the island long
enough to allow the excursionist to have
a dance in the pavilion. Miss Annie
O’Connor, the efficient librarian, was
given a month’s vacation, and she wil
spend the time in North Georgia.

Humbert’s assassin, arrived from
America in company with three no
torious anarchists—Lamen, Sassi,
Quantravale—and that they first went
to Faria, where a conference was beld.

anarchist steps. It was arranged that
Bressi should kill the king at Monsa,
but as a good opportunity did not oc

HAG-TIME SALOONS CLOSED,
Cincinnati, 0., Aug. 1.-By order of
Ma;or Fleischmann, all of the “rag
time” saloons in the city were forced to
retire from business this morning.
These places have been run on tho
wide open plan for some time
time, and now that they have been
oloeed some will quit the liquor traf
fic entirely and others will oontinue

More Troops Sail For China.
San Franoisoo, Aug. I—The equad
ron of the Third cavalry, from Fort
Myer. Va., which arrived here about
three weeks ago, sailed from this port
today on the transport Meade for
China, where they will go into service
immediately upon the arrival,
