Tbe race was a quarter of a mile, two beats. Fleming gave tlie otber horses forty yards tbe start, but wou easily both beats. The next on tbe program was a foot raoe, by a half dozen colored boys. Then oame tbe gsme between tbe Fats snd Leans, and this was, of oourse, tbe most interesting event of tbe day. After a most interesting game the* soore stood 2 to 1 in favor of tbe Fate. As tbe Leans won tbe first g.-me, tbe two clubs are even now. Tbe game bad many special features, Mr. P. W. Fleming actually caugot a fiy and made a double play aDd Capt Goldsmith did not make more tban twenty kicks on umpire Coleman. Dave Gsle, our Dave, played a fine game. He struck tbe ball, but was so surprised be oould no’ run.
