It is prob.ble that the Southeastern Fair Association will have more than a race meet here in November. A prominent stockholder of the associa tion told a Times-Call reporter last n’ght that whether or not a gala week would be held rested with' the major “You see,” ,ad ihs gentleman, “the atsociation wiU have a b'g expense in the race meet, and it is our idea to have a general gila week, and we are going to fsk tbe council to allow us to sell privileges on the streets as weII as on tbs fair grounds. “Many special features and attrac tion* will be on hand—in other words, it will be a small fair. The horee rac ing is bound to draw a large crowd, and with the other things there is no reason why the project cannot be suo oessfully carried through,” There are no better pills made than De- Witt’s Little Early Kisers. Brunswick Would Probably Go Into the Deal. A’lanta, August 28.—A strong sen timent appears to be growing here in favor of professional baseball in At lanta next year. This, of course, oan not be had without the forming of a league, and this is what is thought will be done. The idea teems to be to j get up an interstate league, to that the i cities of Birmingham, Chattanooga and Charleston can come into tbe cir cnit. The people here who are inter ested in tbe movement are not at all anxious to take the lead. They are perfeotly willing to leave tbie matter to the friend* of ball in any of the oth>r o'Uss 1i..1j to take a trni in the formation of tbe league. All that they deers to ses Is the forming cf a circuit composed of good cities, where th game will be well pitroniz and and tbe sport sustained. Tins is aL, and to accomplish this, ths people here who ere moving in tbe matter are ready to lend a willing band. A'lsnta has bad ell aorte of txi eriei.ee in bate hail. We have had c übs that won almost every game they (Dyed in, and clubs again that could not win from a lot of goose pasture ball tossere. With this varied experience, It is urged that a club that can end will win every game is as poor an investment, so far as tbe gate receipts are concerned, a a club thst cannot win at all. What is wanted to make the sport a success is clean ball, played by teams equally matched, eo that tbe result if a game will be in doubt until the last inning is ended and the hat bag is csirud i ft' the diamond. With reference to tbe salary limit, it is held here that as good sport, from a competitive poiDt of view, can b • had by gam is played by teams w tb]i salary of say a month, as can b- produced in ootests between clubs when the salary limit is twee that amount. The uam argu ment here is to make a circuit where the jumps will be short, and employ a class of players that will be paid regu larly, when due, fiftC of the gate re ceipts. Ball players would much rather n'ay for small salaries xed get their money, than for large salaries and in return get notes signed I. O. U. The oities that are most prominently mentioned in connection with the (imitation of the league arc Charleston, Sivannab, Brunswick, Mscon, Atlanta, Birmingham, Chattanooga. Rome and C, lumbue, or aome other Gsorgta city where the game it popular with the people. “lam a switobman,” writes A. J. Jrnneiee, of 9201 Butler St., Chicago, “and am out in all kinds of weather.
