Ho race riouts have occurred In New "York this week. Bather strange. They are calling General Wheeler “the Hying symbol of a united country." Mary Yellin Lease has flopped to Mc- Kinley. All signs point to Bryan’s elec tion. Instead ol a full dinner pail the Penn tylvafila miners arc lucky to have any pail at all. Another county heard from, £hg treasurer of Mclntosh la thirteen hun > jrs short. Macon Is mad. The recent census on rty gives the Central City 21,001. Ten years ago it was Hz,740. Lest you forget, The Chlkbcr ol Commerce will organize ugnet Tuesday, 12 o’clock, at the city halU very easy to w" i^3p r0 ~' I ' s ' iic ' proper, but .fakes money to pufthoio plans into practical opera tion. Between the Appointment of commie lion ana conference* with Henna, the president has very little time to spare these dayn. If yon bear something to a man's credit believe it, but if anything the reverse reaches your ears wait for de velopments . The Timks-Cai.lU m receipt of Hon. T. M. Norwood's book, “Democracy or Empire.” •It contains 115 pages of Verse and is worth going miles to read, The Times Call desires to again direct the attention of the Qiynn coun ty democrats to their duty on October Ith. Do not remain from the polls because there is no opposition, but go there and vote. LET US HAVE UNITY. The Chamber of Commerce is a move ment which calls for united action, and we can afford to have no petty quar rels In its organisation, lien who are business opponents should bnry outside difference* and work to one end-tbe betterment of Brunswick. The great need for such no organisa tion is evident, sod the scoaer we get it in working order the better for ns all. Tne organization meeting will be held at the city hall next Tuesday at 12 o’clock, and we hope to see eyery man who has signed the list which has been circnlated during the past week or two. For one time at least let’s unite in one grand effort for Brunswick. LOOKS LIKE BRYAN. From present indications Bryan will be the next president of the .United States. Although there are some parts of his platform which we do not exactly like, but as a whole, it is easier to find the good parts than the bad. One thing is certain. If elected Bry an will be president in tsv4ry sense of the word. There will ijffi no dictator, there will be no mammoth blood-sucking trusts telling him what to do and what not to do. He wili have an attorney general who has a little nerve, and he will show the common people that they have a president who will guard their interest. ANTE BELLUM NE6ROES- A convention of “old time” negroes is now in session at Macon, and we confidently expect some good results from this gathering. We people of the south hare do trou> ble with the ante-bellum colored man, because he knows his place and always stays la it. It is the “new negro” who thinks he is just as good as the white man.and when they begin to believe that, you can all look for trouble and the worst kind of trouble, too. Let the convention at Macon tell the younger generation el negroes these plain facts, and we are sure there will be less friction. no plaMFor US.
