THINGS THEATRICAL. The ‘‘Sorrows of Satan’' will appear at the opera hoase Monday. October 1. The Augusta Chronicle says: “In a criticism of ‘he play, ‘Sorrows of fa an. as it was presented at the O and la-t eight, a gentleman who is well up in dramatic circles, was heard to expre =s this opinion of the play: ‘I fail to see the grounds for the severe Criticism which the 'Sorrows of Satan’ received at the hands of one of our lead ing papers recently. With the possible exception of a single actor, who took, by the way, only a minor part, I consid ered the company a very strong one, in deed; and again, who ever heard of Bil ly Brady sending out anything but a first class show? I would be willing'to wager if the same play is brought to Augusta next season, they will play to a packed bouse.’ “Mr. Edward Ri Mawson, as Prince Lulio Kimsncz, in voice, carriage and facial expression, with that dry sardonic laugh, was an ideal satan, and his ma jestic—reflections and comments from lx’s point of view, of the existing evils of modern high society, were well re ceived by the audience. * In act throe the work of Miss Emily Dodd, in the character of Lady Sybyl Elton, called forth most favorable com ment. But iust a word here, in regard to Mr, Julian Reed, who took the part of the Duke of Launceston, English nobleman, who had by far more money than brains. Mr. Reed, who Is •quite young, is a nephew of Roland Reed, and if his work last night be tak en as an index, a great future is before the young comedian. ’’ AL.G. FIELD. The Jaliy parade of the Al. Behind them come the minstrels in natty Prince Al bert suits and high hats, and behind them Burt Cutler’s military band of twenty pieces, one of the finest bands ever carried with a minstrel companj : Their daily concerts given during the parade and in the evening before the theatre are always listened to with pleasure.
