industry in Brunswick, and will mean
the employment of at least one hun

A GOOD SHOW ING.
Stale Bank Examiner 8. G. Turner
has Issued a summary of the statement
ct the condition of the state hanks of
•Georgia at tha close of bnslneas Sup*
tember 3, 1899, and September 5, 1900,
which tells or the remarkable oondl
tion of all the banks.
One of the most Important it. mg is
i
the fact that not a bank has failed n
the state this year.
"By the comparison of the summary
of 1890 and 1900, it will be seen that
there has been an increase In loans of
•2,305,000: deposits, $1,854 000; sur
plus and net profits, 9350,000, and a tics
crease in oapltal ol $305,000.

yet in all these items there Is an in
crease except in that of capital. The
difference In the reduction of capital
as shown by tbejfirst statement and the
second is caused by the fact that there
have been fifteen new banks oifcanlaed
and now in operation.
If the statements ol tbe banks with
drawn from the supervision of this de

there would be an approximate increase
of capital (379,000, surplus and net

That is an interview with the presi
dent of the New ffers-y bank Which
William Schreiber looted thoroughly.
In & thousand newspapers morals are
being drawn from Schreiber’s sin."
Here is a now point.
Gay f Anca Hart’s lover stole nnins
tcrruptedly and incessantly for about
•three years, tied, and wss gone atifeat SO
-days before bis theft was discovajrjal.
In all he stole conelderaWy more
than the total capital and surplus of
the bank. .
And this man with the "wonderful
hdjjHHf figures,” the almost criminal
opportunity to steal, surrounded by
temptation, was paid a salary of fifteen
dollars a week.
Can’t you picture tbe scowl on the
face of that bank president?* How his
very nerves are quivering with right
eous indignation; how William Schreib
er’a crjrao fills him with horror; huw
he longs for revenge I

What kin* l of a financial institution
