6 MAY EXEMPT CHURCHES Elr! Will Be Hale in Legislature to Re lieve tie Property. The Atlanta News says: Arothtr effort will bo made to ex empt church property, parsonages and school property from taxation. For several years such a bill has been pending in the general assembly and at one time It passed, bat on ac count ol it being an amendment to the constitution of the state it was not ratified by the people. Senator Bell will Introduce the bill again tomorrow. He says that the provisions of the measure have never been folly explained and for that rea son when it passed the legislature the people were not acquainted -ufllciently with it to vote for it. In his opinion the property of the churches, that Is those buildings used for public worship, and the property ot schools used for educational purposes, should be exempted from taxation. Senator Bell does not believe In ex empting property indiscriminately, bat he does believe that churches and schools should bo relieved of the bur den. PAYING BETS.
