While James K, Jones was a-settin’ up In Chicago figuring otu 818 electoral Totes for Bryan tho domed republicans •weracarrylng'hia onnest own county in ■faraway Arkansas, says the Memphis Bobnltar. A JUST TRIBUTE "WhiIe other men who have been honored by the democratic party went out to aid its enemies, and are now read v with perfunctory offers of reor ganization,” says the Constitution, "such men as Mr. '1 urner have pursued a course which commands the respect sot nil. When Mr. Turner found him self out of sympathy with a line of pol; ley upon which i he democratic heart was set, instead of betraying. It into the hands of the enemy, he retired to pri vate life, and there did his doty as a voter. The party defeated, he regrets the fact, because democracy upon any platform Is better than republicanism wt He beet, "Mr. Turner lea Georgia democrat and as suoh he seek* no personal tri umpb. His advice to wait, is goo,! and when the time comas for an expreseiou •f views as to toe future none will he * TUloned to with greater respect than >wtht which will tome froth him.” ' A PLAiN CASE OF DUTY. In yesterday’s Issue the Times Call pointed out to our eity fathers ths ab surdity of the proposed street railway franchise and we cannot but think that it will be turned down at the meeting of the council tonight. We believe that the present board Is composed of business m;n and to these we ask, Is such a grant good business? Not a single member of the council can answer In the affirmative because they all know that this franchise i a one sided proposition, and the worst of it is the city gets the small end of the horn. We cannot afford to say, ‘‘Gentlemen the streets are yours for the doxl half century, you can take them all, but we want Hanover park and you might af ford to let us keep this little piece of ground.” With a monopoly, what would keep the street railway company frrm charge ing exborbitant fares? What would keep them from putting on a horse car system? How about transfer checks? The does not belleye that council will grant this franchise because the board is oomposed of busi ness men, and we believe they, will act for the city as they would for them selves. BB.UNSWIGK’B POPULATION. The Census figures published this morning does Brunswick And Glynn county a great injustice. It is said that misery loyos company and we suppose this will be our only comfort as hun dreds of other southern cities are com- plainly about their census figures. The population of Brunswick Is not less thafi 10 000, but under tha present regime it l* fo tha interest of the powers that he to cut down the state* aut like the rest—we must suffer. Brunswick has more than 10,000 peo ple—we all know this. WOMEN ANO THE BALLOT. While the official figures have not been complied, it la a fact that the num ber of voting women seems to be de creasing. The west, with its customary chivalry, has been quicker to grant to the weaker sex tho privilege of the bal lot than tbe east. Women tn four state", Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Idaho, vote for presldrnt. This year was their first opportunity in Idaho. In woma| suffrage states lees than 60 per cent of the women take advantage of the right, ami after the novelty wears off, the o umber steadily decreases at each elec tlon. ” PERSONAL POINTS. I don’t know what is the matter with me, but I just had to have a good cry.” Men don’t have crying spells. It would seem therefore that an affection confined to women must have its cause in the womanly nature. There is no doubt that a diseased condition of the delicate womanly organs, is in gen eral responsible for feminine nervous ness and hysteria. The use of Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Pre scription makes women happy by mak ing them healthy. There are no more crying wells. "Favorite Prescription” cur*a inflammation, ulceration and fe male weakness.
