Fora number of years Bruntwiok and Glynn county have witnessed long and bitter politloal struggles. The climax of these con test* was reaobed in tbe recent ooun ty primary when an overwhelming majority of the white voters in every voting preolnot gave their support to tbe administration of tbe Good Gov ernment people. After the primary practically all of tbe opponenes of tbe olub took the position that they would abide tbe verdict of tbe voters, and agreed that they would not con test tbe next city elaotion. It oannot be denied that the ad ministration of tbe oounty affairs in •very department has been able, eco nomical and for tbe beat interest of tbe texpeyere during tbe past two years. The gentlemen wbo have been nominated by tbe olub for may or and aldermen to serve for tbe en suing term are absolutely pledged to olearly defined polioies which must commend themselves to all good citizen ■. They are men of strict integrity and are undoubtedly deter mined and anxious to render the beat possible servioe to their fellow otti xens. Therefore it would bo unwise, unreasonable and useless to under- take to run In even one opposition candidate. Should such a {move he successful it would undoubtedly be unfortunate for the best interests of the oity from every standpoint. Mr, XmsiiUel should be supported by a nnjorjty who are in thorough sym pathy with the platform on wbiah he bar beon nouiinatrd, otherwise bt* ad ministration would he hampered and embarrassed. These gentlemen should he gi ven n fall and fair trial a* public officers, and there can be jto question but what a great majority oMbe voters ere to fav r Messrs. Etnannel, dh Bignon, Me- Oarvey and Calhoun being elected, end Will so vote on next Tuesday. THE GEORGE M. WELLS, 'lhe first six-mast schooner that tter crossed the bar or a South Atlan tic port, will sail into the harbor of Brunswick iometiufc this week. A out of tbit msgniflo*ut*vessel, the George M. Well*, appears on the front page of this issue. She has been char tered to load ties, by N. Emanuel A Cos. Mr, N. Kmanut],always foremost in whatever will redound to the good of the olty, made a sßvial effort to se cure Ibis great vessel in order to de monstrate to the maritime world the superiority of our bar and pert. Per hipa she will make a return trip by the time the maritime coogrorscon grass convenes. ~ v interest has beeu manifested by shipping people in tbe experiments being made with these six-mast ves sels, and the George H. WelJs, will be visited by a large portion of Bruns wick’s population daring the time she will be in port. ' , !>■ SUNDAY THOU6HTS Bu#op W. Yet it Is not tu this View that.l meant to regard the penalty of sin. We can perhaps measure It some what better if we think of what it was to Ilun o* whom were laid tbe loiqvti ties of us all. Do we dream that tbe piercing thorns, and the iashea of the scourge, and the erne! nails, aad tbe burning thirst, and the awful death agony were the ohief pangs our ransom cost.
