Auburn. Oot. 28—Offloials of tbe An

Warden Mead, who h*s rpoovered from

Efeotrir.i&n Davis and tbe keepers and

and tbe program was carefully gone
over. Mead has seleoted his assistants
from among tbe prison employes who
have tbe widest experience in execn
tions.
It is understood that tbe prison offi
cials will UD3 every precaution to pre*
vent Cz.figoez from talking in the death
chamber, it being their desire that any
thing he may wish to say be said in bie
cell. Toe prisoner’s attitude ia reported
unchanged. He declines to talk exoept
in monosyllables. For two uays a
b’other-in law of tbe ooudemned man
bas been seeking permission to see him
In order to bave him identified the war
den went to tbe prisoner and asked
him if he could desoribe bis brotber-in
law. He replied:
“I did not see my sister married and
do not know the man.”
• Would you like to see him?” he wee
asked.
“No, I don’t oar*,” was the repiy
“Ha v. ants to be let alone,” said
Warden Mead, “and vnlet him alooe.
The prisoner is unchanged in demeanor
and l eal h,”
AN Extra Guard.
Toniaht at 6 o’clock, after ‘he death
wtu ratir had baen read, an extar guard
was placed in the c>ll with Czosgoez,
That portion of the prison In wbioh
four other condemned men are kept has
been partitioned off from Czolgotz' oell
by au iron screen. The extra guards
on duty at the prison gates will be
mainta>nßd uoti! after the execution to
morrow morning.
The polioe of the city are co-operat
ing with the prison officials aud keep
a close watch on all trains entering the

possibility ft a u aot of yiolenoo upon
the part of some wild crank.
“Thelma” at the Academy of Muiio,

management of Alden Benedict, with
more than average euooess. Toe play
Itself is strong in dramatio inte eat and

GUY WOODWARD PLEASED
Happy, Laughing Audience at the Grand
Last Night,
Guy Woodwatd and his pcpular priced
comedy company pleased a good sized
audience at tbe Grind last night.
Everybody seamed to know Guy and
looked for a good time—therefore they
bad tt.
There was nothing in the plot to
follow—uo strain on the mind pre
duoe that tired feeling but just a plain
old evening of uocseneand fun to keep
tbe people in a good humor.
Woodwardjhas the happy faoulty of
driving the b ues at a lower price
than any comedian that comes this
way and it is this combiuation that
wins. For less than a dollar a fellow
can carry his sweetheart to the show,
spend over a hundred minutes in laugh-
ing and on the walk home have enough
left of his huudred cents to buy a
jim jam, or soda and cream for two.
There is nothing in Woodward plays
for a drmnitio critic to pull his hair and
pen i ondri us wo di over but there is
enough humor in Woodward and his
company to keep the averagG mortal
laughing all the time he is watching
the stage—and after all is not this the
beat.
Woodward is a tun maker pure •md
simple—he pleases the orowds and he
always gets them. May he come again
and give some more cf his pleasure

friends,

About Miss Stone.
New Yoik, Oct. 28.—According tc
the Sofia correspondent of the Journal,
Colkanitchtff, prefect of Bulgarian peace
has made the following statement re
gu.dicg Miss Stone, the missing mis
sionary :
“If Mias Stone she will b.
found within ton n- r s. Three different
parlies are now enroute to establish
communication with the brigands. It j
is ominous that nothing has been heard j
from the captive in a month. Our severe!
measures have driven the brigand'
from the frontier to the interior, and i
is now a race between the three relief
parties 10 are which will find her first.
Someone is sure to find her if living,”

the king has some ailmmt wh oh has

carefu iy refrain from making allusions
to his ailment and are rather inclined
to speak of his good state cf his health,

that something serious Is the matter
with him.
