THEATRICAL TREAT TO-NIGHT.
“’Way Down East” Probably the Best
Play of the Season.
Those who go to the Grand tonight
will make no mistake. “’Way Down
Easi” ie one of .he strongest plays that
people in tois oily have had an oppor
umty of seeing in a long time, and
has proven a great suooees wherever it
has b „n prefemed. Three imes this
week—Monday and Tuesday nights and
Tuesday wa lines—it fi.ied the ope,a
house In Savannah, and a gentleman
from 'bat oity wbo saw the pley and ie
a good judge of plays speaks in tbe
highest terms of it ana says the Savan
nah audiences were en’busiastio in
tbetr praise.
It is to be g.ven with a great oast,
elaborate scenery, tbe famous snow
storm that Is one of the sensations < t
the piece, and every accessory that has
made it so popular elsewhere. Another
winning feature of “’W iy Down East”
is thet in every line tbe play aims for
wholesomeness and genuinely human
sentiment. Wherever it has been pie
sented scores of letters have been re*
oeived from clergymen, sahool teachers
and others telling of their delight at
the story it so aptly teaches. The dia*
logne is stirring, the wit and humor
bright, and the scenes deftly arranged
There are few plays like 11 ’Way
Down East,” and no opportunity
should be missed to witness it.

oaly one thing. It killed the bill by

ma ,e The bill was a very important
one and would have resulted In a great
change ia Georgia election laws if it
Lad passed .
The most important thing done in
either the house or the senate today
was the killing forever of filibustering
1 1 the House. The killing occurred
amid great applause from members
and the galleries and muob indignation
from some of the fllibusterers Speaker
Little made anew ruling which oauied
consternation in filibustering ranks
