SPECIAL NIGHT AT THE GRAND.
Popular Musicians and a First Class Play
to Be the Attraction.
By cpeolal airaugcment Messrs,
Flemicg & Waff offer to the amuse
ment loving people of Brunswiok a
rare treat at the opera house tonight.
‘ Forget Me Not’’ is the play with the
well huown favorite, Rose Coghlan, as
the st. *.
in addition to thi's the regular
orchestra, composed of Messrs. Burr
Winton and Herbe-t. Mhler, aud Prof.
I’etersie, will be ably aeaisted by Mo-
Dulfih’e inoious orohestra, oompr'sing
the following well known local musi
cians: Messrs. J. A, MoDuflie, J. G.
Wilson, George McCullough, Chas.
Baumgartner, Remain McCullough,
John Baumgartner aud - -Morrison.
The combination of these two orches
tras will make the musical part of the
entertainment a great treat,worth alone
the price of admission, whiqh, it being
Saturday night—always a bad night for
first class theatrical attractions—has
been reduced to SIOO for any seat
down stairs. Rose Coghlan never plays
at, less than $1.60, so it will be seen
that the managers of the opera house
hove not only arranged a speoial
musical treat but have secured the
presentation of an intensely interesting
society drama by first class artists at a
reduced price.
The advance sale of seats has been
good and the opera house tonight
should bo occupied by one of the
largest audiences of tte season, All in
ail the entertainment promises to be
one of the beet of the year.

Morcefl Against Germany
Wiilematadt. Deo 13 .—There has
been a bait io the sxobangs of com
munications between Germany and
Venezuela, owing to the publication
in newspapers of Carraooas of oabls
dispatches from the United States, set
ting forth that the government at
Washington will not oppose any steps
which Germany may take to inforoe
her rights in Venezuela, with the ex
oeption of preventing the annexation
of Venezuelan territory.
It is believed here that Germany, at
the end of the present mouth, will
take steps to obtain due acknowledg
ment of her claims for $2,000,000 aris
ing from losses sustained by German
oitizens during the last revolution and
disallowed by Venezuela. The situa
tion in Venezuela is critical and fears
are expressed of a general uprising In
January.
"BOOM IN BRUNSWICK’S SHIPPING.”
An Atlanta Paper Gives Deserved Praiie to
a Brunswick Citizen.
Under the above headline the Atlanta
Journal has this to say about a promi
nent citizm of Brunswiok, Mr. C, D.
Ogg. secretary of the Board of Trade,
who has been in attendance on the
good roads convention in that city:
“Mr. Ogg has long been identified
with every movement that makes for
the upbuilding of Brunswick and
south Georgia and no min has rendered :
more valuable tervioe to that section j
than he. |
“‘Brunawicl ” said Colonel Ogg j
this morning, “ 'is showing a steady,
healthy growth and onr people feel
more enonuraged than they have felt
for years. A matter which we consider
worthy of some note is ths faot that our
shipping report for the mouth of No
vember shows an increase over same
month last year, The total value of
all claeses of imports amountsd to
$2 870,233, and required the oarryintr
oapaolty of vessels aggregating 43,211
tons. The outward mevemeut in lum
ber, naval siores, cotton and ootton
products, phosphates and various mer
chandise has been very heavy. The
foreign exports alone were 60 per cent
larger than those of November, 1900,
ootton alone being2oopercent Increase
in quantity. Indications point to a
heavy foreign export trade all the
winter, with prospects of considerable
tains in the spring. Coastwise trade,
both inward and outward, is heavy,’ ”
