Among the msrfy entertainments of
tbe week were a number of Christmas
trees given for tbe children of tbe vari
ons Sunday sebocls. All were thor
oughly eajoyed.
The children ef S*. Mark's, Episco
pal, Suedsy school bad their Christmas
oelebration on Friday after the regular
evening tervioet. They marched frem
the obnrob Into the pariah ball tinging
Christmas oarols. In the hell was a
iarge tree beautifully decorated and
weighted down with candy and fruits.
One of the noteworthy featnree of this
oooasion was tbe faot that there were
no presents, but the candy and fruit,
as tbe children had agreed beforehand
that instead of presents being distri
buted to them the money should be
given to the needy. This unselfish ao*
tion on their part sorely added more
pleasure to the occasion than the out
tomary presents would have done
They sang their oarols heartily, and
will long remember the event.
Another Sunday school that enjoyed
a Christmas trse on Friday evening was
the First Methodiat, It was in okargs
of Mrsdames H. S. Johnson, R. B,
Hardy and J. Metager. A large crowd
attended ands regoUr BsntaOlaasdJ
