The past week has b an a notable one in Brunawiok’s social ciroles. The weather baa been delightful an 4 noth ing has occurred to mar tbe pleasure of the various entertainments and aocial function, One of tbe pleasant features of tbe week was the two performances of ‘‘Quo Vadis” at the Grand opera hjOtlso on Christmas Day. The bouse was paoked at each performance and tbe entertainment was a grand one. The wbole audience imbued with tbe Christmas feeling that lays aside all formality and makes the whole werld kin. The boxes were alloocupied and among tbe parties wtre the following: At tbe matinee one box was oconpied by Col, W. 8. Kay and family. Another box party, given by Miss Emily Waff, was composed of Misses Leslie Butts, MaryLUla Blanton,Ethel Elliott, Gertrude Allen Ella Blao tOD. At the sight performance one box party consisted of Ur. B. J. Allen tnd Jjiss Mary McCullough, Ur, Maloom MBullough and Migg Gertrude Allan, Howard Waff and Migg Ratta MoCul lODgb. In anothgr party were Ur- and Ur a. G. B. All were thor oughly eajoyed. The children ef S*. Mark's, Episco pal, Suedsy school bad their Christmas oelebration on Friday after the regular evening tervioet. They marched frem the obnrob Into the pariah ball tinging Christmas oarols. In the hell was a iarge tree beautifully decorated and weighted down with candy and fruits. One of the noteworthy featnree of this oooasion was tbe faot that there were no presents, but the candy and fruit, as tbe children had agreed beforehand that instead of presents being distri buted to them the money should be given to the needy. This unselfish ao* tion on their part sorely added more pleasure to the occasion than the out tomary presents would have done They sang their oarols heartily, and will long remember the event. Another Sunday school that enjoyed a Christmas trse on Friday evening was the First Methodiat, It was in okargs of Mrsdames H. S. Johnson, R. B, Hardy and J. Metager. John’s day by tbe Masons, under the anspiors of Ooeun Lodge, The Urge lodge room was filled with the Mesons, tbs lad es cf tbe Eastern Star, and their friends. An interesting program appropriate to the oooaeion, including music and addresses, was delightfully rendered. Tbe addrasees were delivered by Yen Harry Cassll and Frof. Ballard, and Mrs. Blanton, Mra: Bays and a male quartette consisting of Dr. Blanton and Msssrs. Fleming, Dempster and LaManca famished the masie. Past Grand Master Symons presided, ane after tbe program was finlahad he announced that refreshment! were in order. An elegant repast, prepared by tba ladies was moat thoroughly enjoyed. * * * The Goodyear- Mitchell hones party were delightfully entertained last night by Mr, and Mrs. W. S Taylor, at their residence corner of Richmond and George streets with a progeaaira oard party. “Hearts” was the game played, and the first prise for ladles, a Brunswick souvenir spoon, was wcu by Miss Willie Mat Halo of Atlas ti. The goutlemea’t first prize, an etehlrg in black and white, was woa by Mr, Geo B. Flint of Anniston. # • * The house party being entertained by Colonel and Mrs, Goodyear and Mr. and Mrs. W. X. Mitchell, !• as fellows: Miss Clara Mitchell, Misa Julia Tift, Mr. Nelson Tift, Sr„ Mr. Nelson Tilt, Jr„ and Mr, Nelson Mltohell, of Al bany, Ga; Mias Esther Goodyear, of Connecticut; Mltji Wlllla Mat Gale, of Atlanta, and Mr, Georgs B. Flint, of Anniston. BUSINESS CHANGES Hoodenpyie Bakery and Harrell Broi Grocery Change Hands. Thia is the season when bnsiness changes occur. Among the changes made this wash we note the following. J. M. Hoodenpyie has sold Bis bakery business at the corner of A and F street to J. K. Cornelias, who will continue the business at the present stand, lfr. Cornelias will also continue to conduct hip wood and coal bnsiness.
