Tbe following beautiful tribute is paid by her pa E tor; Mrs. Minnie Newton Robert was the daughter of Ur] L. B and Mrs. Mattie Preston Newton, and was born Jan. 29. h 1868 She professed faith In Jesus Christ at the age of seventeen, and united with tho Baptist church immediately. From that day unto the day of her death, she was a consistent Christian, both in word and : eed. She was married to b. W. Robert Sept. Bth 1880, and to them were born five obildren—three of them survive their mother, and weep at ber funeral, while two are with her in heaven. She died at two o’clock, in the morning, Deo. otb, 1001, after a long and tiresome wait ing which she endured with all the cour age of a martyr. For long weary months she had been gradually, yet without a murmiy, nearing theeud. Her husband and friends kne., it was only a question of days, and etill, somehow we hoped on-hoped ever. But the dreadful sickness was workings on night and day, like a wolf fieroe for blood. The husband gave up business and came home to watch and wait at the meet . aaored bedside beneath the heavens. Low- er and lower the lamp burned , until at last it flickered and failed forever. At midnight the devo ed husband gave the medicine ti.at was to be tbe last she would ever need—lor they never Lave siekness and death over yonder. When the medicine was given, the husband fell into a fitful sleep only to be awakened a few minutes later that he might witness the end ing of a life that had ment eo muoh to him. When he called her name she turnod her gentle eyes toward him in lov ing recognition, and then went away. Her yes were gently closed, and an un seen hand touched tuem into perfect rest. Under the overshadowing, overpower ing senes of out common loss, 1 know not what to door say. There is'not a thres hold in our town but is today darkened by the shadow of this Death Angel’s wing. There is not a home anywhere wherein her gentle presence has ever entered, but will hear with heavy hearts tha dreadful news that Friday morning waked our vil lage to keenest gnei. All who have ever •hared the kindness of her home will weep when they hear that home has been in-, vaded by the dread summons tbat awaits ua all, ad that she, who made it home, has been snatched from the armß that aohed to hold*her. Many who are not present today will hear with hushed voices and streaming eyes that she, whom they loved, has gone to her long rest beneath the willow. tihe who lies bsfore us in dreamless sleep, with eyeli is too heavy to lift to af fection e yearning cry—with hands folded in perfect peaoe—wat, a loved and loving wi e, a dear devoted mother, a fond aud faithful friend. She lov ed her husband, and children and her heartato e better than she loved ber self, aud no sacrifice she ever madj for one Bhe loved, but seemed to her joy. She waß olind to wrongs of others, she rarely ever ohidel, and her life knew no shadow greater than the shared sorrows of otheie. Her Ups knew well the language ot Uharity, her soul knew no sentiment but Love, aud her hande were devoted to lilts ing burdens.
